The CTOS, or Central Operating System is a highly advanced digital information system designed to manage the infrastructure of a metropolitan region. Developed by Blume Corporation engineers, it was originally installed in Chicago during the events of Watch Dogs 1. After its destruction, a new version, CTOS 2.0, was installed in various regions in America, such as San Francisco, Chicago and Delaware. CTOS 2.0 served as its replacement during the events of Watch Dogs 2 in San Francisco. Years later, a new version CTOS 3.0 was unleashed in various metropolitan regions the world. It was seen during the events of Watch Dogs: Legion in London and beyond. Background: The CTOS is highly advanced digital information system which is connected via a very complex interconnection of electronic systems. These electronic systems include computer servers, sensors, technological gadgetry and databases, that interact to manage the city-wide infrastructure of Chicago. Many systems are connected and controlled by CTOS servers, such as subway lines, traffic lights and surveillance cameras. Unfortunately, the CTOS is also the core weakness of the city, as it can be hacked into using backdoor programs or facial recognition malfunctions, and used as a weapon against the city and its inhabitants. CTOS also manages to obtain and store data of Chicago inhabitants, which it does via various methods, such as by retrieving user information stored on CTOS connected consumer electronics and by using Chicago's mass surveillance system. All of the information gathered by CTOS is stored in the control centers (data servers) located throughout Chicago. Along with being able to tamper with the CTOS telecommunication towers, Aiden Pearce is able to access the information and the mechanism responsible for accessing and storing it in the control centres. Communication sites are placed between the control centers to promote the effective and efficient transfer of data over large distances. Although CTOS is successful in reducing the crime rate of Chicago, it does not protect the city as well as Blume claims. CTOS is also tied to a space satellite, which functions as a safety measure intended for the remote shutting down of the entire system if deemed necessary. Successors: CTOS was upgraded to CTOS 2.0 with assumed upgraded security features after Aiden Pearce rebooted it. CTOS 2.0 was then installed in several other cities, including San Francisco and Oakland. Furthermore, by the time Watch Dogs: Legion takes place, CTOS 3.0 had become the dominant CTOS operating system worldwide, with use in major cities across the world, including London. Problems/Controversy: One question that is frequently asked about the CTOS is: Who controls the system that controls Chicago? One negative that has been noted about the CTOS is that large businesses could use the data stored by CTOS to maximize profits. It has also been noted that control of the system could fall into the wrong hands. The fact that control of CTOS could fall into the wrong hands has clearly been brought to the public's attention by a hacking collective known as DedSec. The group hacks into the system and misappropriated its abilities to use it for its own purposes, such as invasions of privacy or data collection, simultaneously emphasizing the enormous power and security flaws of CTOS. Aiden Pearce ⭐ Full Name: Aiden Pearce ⭐ Age: 39 (2013), 42 (2016) ⭐ Born: May 2, 1974 ⭐ Born In: Belfast, Northern Ireland ⭐ Nationality: Northern Irish, American ⭐ Residence: Chicago, Illinois (during Watch Dogs & St. Louis, Missouri (after Watch Dogs), San Francisco, California (during Watch Dogs 2), London, England (during Watch Dogs: Legion) ⭐ Alias(es): The Vigilante, The Fox, Joe Smith, Nicholas Crispin ⭐ Affiliation(s): Damien Brenks (formerly), Jordi Chin (formerly), Clara Lille (formerly), Raymond "T-Bone" Kenney, Tyrone Hayes (formerly) ⭐ Profession: Grey hat hacker, Vigilante, Fixer ⭐ Siblings: Nicole Pearce, Jackson Pearce (nephew), Lena Pearce (niece) ⭐ Status: Alive Aiden Pearce (also known as "The Vigilante" and "The Fox" by citizens and the media) is the protagonist of Watch Dogs. He is a highly skilled grey hat hacker who has access to the CTOS of Chicago using a highly specialized device, the Profiler. Because his actions led to a family tragedy, Aiden has taken to a personal crusade against the powers that be. His obsession with security, surveillance, and control borders on the paranoid and dangerous, extending to monitoring his own family (unbeknownst to them). Aiden grew up learning about computers. When he became an adult, he used the knowledge he had gathered growing up to commit clandestine scams. Pearce has a background as a criminal which has given him links to the underground of Chicago knowing the wrong people for all the wrong reasons. He grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland alongside his younger sister Nicole who greatly idolized him. His mother took the children to the United States in order to escape from their father who was implied to have been an abusive parent. As a child, he grew up in a rough neighborhood and frequently had to protect his family. Over time, his mother noticed how Aiden was becoming similar to his father and that her once sweet little boy had gone. As a young adult, he became a member of a criminal gang. He purchased lessons in combat, marksmanship and weapons all of which contributed towards his career as a thief. In 2005, Aiden was nearly arrested by a gym trainer who had noticed his injuries, unable to afford the risk, he swiftly eliminated him. After this event, Aiden began studying big cons, social engineering, psychology and intimidation tactics in order to improve his mental competence. Aiden later became acquainted with a fellow hacker, Damien Brenks, where the two taught each other specific hacking skills and the two proved to be a strong team. Damien Brenks: ⭐ Full Name: Damien Brenks ⭐ Age: 48 ⭐ Born: 1965 ⭐ Nationality: American ⭐ Residence: Chicago ⭐ Affiliation(s): Aiden Pearce (formerly), Charlotte Gardner, Robert Racine ⭐ Profession: Forensic Technologist, Hacker ⭐ Marital Status: Divorced ⭐ Children: Marcus (aged 15) ⭐ Status: Deceased ⭐ Died: 2013 ⭐ Cause of Death: Shot in the head by Aiden Pierce Aiden's former partner, Damien Brenks blackmails him into discovering the truth about the Merlaut Job. In the prologue, Aiden is at the Merlaut Hotel to tap into people's personal information so Damien could siphon money from them. Suddenly, they detected another hacker in the system. Though Aiden insisted that they cut the link, Damien refused so he could find out more, but his protégé refused to let his recklessness endanger them and was forced to terminate the link and make a run for it. However, the second hacker was able to discern their identities and a hit was put on them. Damien was violently attacked, leaving him in a week-long coma and crippled in his left leg, while a failed assassination attempt on Aiden resulted in the death of his niece Lena. Eleven months later, Damien began making subtle attempts to contact Aiden, involving paying off a stranger to make a prank call to his sister Nicole to set her on edge. This led to Aiden chasing down the caller and attempted to trace who hired him. Eventually, Aiden found Damien's digital breadcrumbs and a message to meet. Upon coming face-to-face, Damien was drunk and started rambling on how he had suffered as much Aiden had. He then revealed that he had traced the IP address of the second hacker and insisted on working with Aiden. However, Aiden refused, and insisted that he didn't need him. Aiden later called Damien to find out what he knew, but the latter failed to show up at their new rendezvous. He then revealed himself on three large TV screens, revealing he was in Nicole's house. Aiden raced there and confronted Damien, who revealed he had taken Nicole captive and demanded that Aiden do what he wants in exchange for her safety. Dermot "Lucky" Quinn: ⭐ Full Name: Dermot Quinn ⭐ Age: 75 ⭐ Born: 1938 ⭐ Born In: Galway, Ireland ⭐ Nationality: Irish ⭐ Residence: Chicago ⭐ Alias(es): Lucky Quinn, Mr. Quinn, Dermot Quinn, Quinn, LQ, Mob boss ⭐ Affiliation(s): Chicago South Club, Donovan Rushmore, Iraq ⭐ Profession: Businessman, Mob boss ⭐ Children: Niall Quinn ⭐ Status: Deceased ⭐ Died: 2013 ⭐ Cause of death: Heart attack caused by hacked pacemaker Dermot "Lucky" Quinn is a major character and the secondary antagonist of Watch Dogs. Quinn was the leader of the Chicago South Club and the one who ordered the hit on Aiden Pearce and Damien Brenks, and in doing so, set the game's events into motion. Quinn was born in Galway, Ireland in 1938. He said that he came from a poor family, and had five brothers and sisters. They left Galway for Chicago when he was young, and one of his sisters died on the way. Quinn later became a thug in the local mafia in Chicago. During this time, he was involved in a shootout with Al Capone's Chicago Outfit, but he luckily survived; he was then nicknamed Lucky. In an unknown year, Quinn became the boss of the Chicago South Club, which became even more powerful under his reign. Quinn made a deal with the Blume Corporation and helped finance the CTOS project in exchange for access to the network, giving Quinn even more power. Thanks to the Bellwether code from Blume, Quinn recorded a video of mayor Donovan Rushmore murdering Rose Washington, a former employee from Blume, which he used as a blackmail to control the mayor, and also arranged his re-election. Quinn also associated the Club with the Black Viceroys led by Delford "Iraq" Wade. Both lead to a major human trafficking ring. Quinn is also a billionaire and owns many businesses such as the prestigious Merlaut Hotel in Mad Mile, Chicago. In 2012, two hackers, Aiden Pearce, and Damien Brenks, hacked in the Merlaut Hotel to siphon the customers' bank accounts. Quinn, however, thought that they were looking for Rushmore's footage. Quinn hired Clara Lille to identify the duo and Iraq (who hired Maurice Vega) to carry out the hit. Lena Pearce, Aiden's niece, died in the attack. Aiden then swore that the one who ordered the hit would die, and would be the one to eventually kill him by hacking his pacemaker. Quinn is also described to be a philanthropist, though it is assumed that it is actually a cover-up for the Club's activities. The people of Chicago have a generally positive opinion about Quinn, which means they are unaware of Quinn's ties with the Club and the CTOS. Jordi Chin: ⭐ Full Name: Jordi Chin ⭐ Nationality: Asian-American ⭐ Residence: Chicago (formerly), San Francisco ⭐ Affiliation(s): Aiden Pearce (tentative friendship), Underground Car Contact, Blume (possibly), Marcus Holloway ⭐ Profession: Fixer ⭐ Status: Alive At the start of the game, Jordi had been hired by Aiden in order to find any leads to the murder of his niece and has successfully found the gunman responsible: Maurice Vega. In order for Aiden to escape the stadium basement and allow Jordi to take Maurice to a safe holding place, he deliberately kills several members of the Viceroy's gang and Maurice's guards in order to stage it as a gang shootout and not a kidnapping. He also calls the police in order to cover up their real reason for being there and that any potential evidence will be assumed to belong to the 'shoot out'. Jordi later contacts Aiden to deliver a thief to his client for him as a form of payment for all he has done for Aiden but does not tell him that the client was the head of the the Club Dermot "Lucky" Quinn and that Quinn would probably kill the hired thief afterwards, this leads Jordi to tell Aiden that he needs to relax and to focus on the money and not the morals. Jordi also contacts Aiden that a survivor from the stadium killings is being coerced into pointing out Aiden for killing the gang members, forcing Aiden to intimidate the person organizing the coercion and infiltrating a prison in order to silence the witness. In By Any Means Necessary, he gives sniper support to Aiden. He ends up getting taken down by Iraq's men, but manages to escape. When Aiden takes on Damien in the final showdown, they are interrupted by Jordi, who attempts to kill both Pearce and Damien, claiming that he has received a new contract (he might be hired by Blume but this is unconfirmed). Jordi instructs Aiden to kick his gun over. As Aiden attempts to hack the lighthouse lamp, Jordi demands him to hand the phone over but is ignored. Jordi is thrown off the lighthouse by Pearce, but later turns out to have survived the final showdown between him, Damien and Aiden as evident when he contacted Aiden after the meeting at the lighthouse, allowing Aiden to meet Maurice and decide his fate. Clara Lille: ⭐ Full Name: Clara Lille ⭐ Age: 28 ⭐ Born: 1985 ⭐ Nationality: Canadian-American ⭐ Residence: Chicago ⭐ Nicknames: BadBoy17 ⭐ Affiliation(s): DedSec, Chicago South Club (former), Aiden Pearce ⭐ Profession: Hacker, Tattoo Artist ⭐ Status: Deceased ⭐ Died: 2013 ⭐ Cause of Death: Assassinated Clara was born in 1985 somewhere in the Quebec province in Canada. When she grew up, she became a hacker and entered the group DedSec, with the alias BadBoy 17. She was a hacker to hire and was paid by contractors to identify targets (the harder it gets, the more money she gets). After Aiden Pearce and Damien Brenks, two hackers, failed their job in the Merlaut Hotel, she was hired by Dermot "Lucky" Quinn. She identified the two, which caused both to become Chicago South Club targets. During the attack, Lena Pearce was killed instead of her uncle Aiden. After Clara terminated her association with the Club, she was hired by Aiden in person to find Lena's killers. At this point, she never met him in person and used her alias and voice changing software. She saw Aiden first after the funeral, and seeing him saddened by Lena's death, she swore that she would heal Aiden from Lena's death by finding the killers, though she was trying to hide her involvement in the hit. Clara first appears in the first mission, Bottom of the Eighth, as BadBoy17. At this point in the game, Aiden/the player does not know about BadBoy's identity. During the mission, she unlocks the electrical grid so Aiden can use a blackout and escape the stadium. Raymond E. Kenney: ⭐ Full Name: Raymond Eugene Kenney ⭐ Age: 52 (2013), 55 (2016) ⭐ Born: July 18, 1961 ⭐ Nationality: American ⭐ Residence: Junkyard (Formerly), The Bunker (Formerly), The Silo (Formerly), San Francisco (Current) ⭐ Nicknames: T-Bone, T-Bone Grady, Ray, Ray Kenney, Mystery Man ⭐ Affiliation(s): Blume (formerly), CTOS (formerly), Rose Washington (formerly), Clara Lille (formerly), Aiden Pearce, Tobias Frewer, Sheila Billings, DedSec, Marcus Holloway, Sitara, Wrench, Josh, Horatio ⭐ Profession: Welder, Software engineer (former), Artist, sculptor, raconteur, Hacktivist ⭐ Status: Alive Raymond Kenney was born on July 18, 1961, and in his adult years became one of the software engineers hired to help make CTOS. Because of this, he has extensive knowledge of the system. Kenney was a whistleblower of the Blume Corporation, who installed an implant in his head which alerts the CTOS whenever he is nearby. Eventually, Kenney grew to regret his role in creating CTOS, as he began to realize both the extent of control it afforded corporations and governments over people, as well the risks it provided if it were to be tampered with or malfunction. Kenney had also become paranoid about Blume's activities, such as their action prediction software, again due to the level of control it provided them. He recorded several of his reflections on CTOS in audio logs, which he hid in the mainframe of his workplace's computer system. The logs were encrypted so that only a fellow engineer could decrypt and read them, which Angela Balik ended up doing upon being recruited by Blume. Eventually, Kenney was fired from Blume for his growing, and outspoken, objections to their activities. He was subsequently removed from his workplace while shouting warnings about Blume and CTOS, a scene witnessed by several of his co-workers. Kenney began to openly oppose Blume and the CTOS network in the wake of his firing, going on to cause the Northeast Blackout of 2003 by hacking CTOS in order to show the dangers of an entire infrastructure relying on one system. The blackout caused the accidental deaths of eleven people, causing Kenney to feel extreme guilt and leading him to go 'off the grid' in order to avoid detection by Blume and the authorities. Kenney adopted the alias of 'T-Bone' and began drinking heavily due to both his guilt over the deaths he caused as well as his bitterness in Blume firing him. The blackout, however, led to him becoming highly revered by those who protested against Blume, such as DedSec, and well known in the hacking community. Donovan Rushmore: ⭐ Full Name: Donovan Rushmore ⭐ Age: 63 ⭐ Born: 1950 ⭐ Nationality: American ⭐ Residence: Chicago ⭐ Affiliation(s): Chicago, Lucky Quinn ⭐ Profession: Mayor ⭐ Marital Status: Divorced ⭐ Status: Deceased ⭐ Died: 2013 ⭐ Cause of Death: Unknown The mayor is responsible for collaborating with businesses and the Blume Corporation to implement the ctOS in Chicago, beginning in 2011. It was said that he was corrupt and was forced to agree with the implementation, which was supported by the Chicago South Club boss Lucky Quinn. As Rushmore was beginning to be a "man of the people", Quinn asked Blume to use the Bellwether Code on him. The Blume Corporation arranged the divorce of Rushmore and his wife and a meeting between him and Rose Washington. During the meeting, Rushmore murdered her, but was recorded, giving Quinn blackmail on him. Threatening to reveal the video to the public, Rushmore then became Quinn's "puppet", allowing the Chicago South Club to control the whole city of Chicago. When Aiden Pearce and Damien Brenks tried to hack in the Merlaut Hotel, Quinn believed that they were trying to get the video. Quinn hired Clara Lille to track the duo and Maurice Vega to carry on the hit placed on them, setting the events of the game in motion. Eleven months later, Rushmore gave a speech at Quinn's charity benefit at the Merlaut, giving praise to Quinn. When he was finished, he took to the sidelines with Quinn, demanding the blackmail video, but was refused and ordered to leave. Subsequently, when Aiden faces a dying Quinn, he reveals the video to him, saying that the death of Lena was "a mistake". After killing him, Aiden downloaded the video and sent it to Kenney, which released it to the public. Rushmore declined to comment while city hall claimed that the footage was faked by Dedsec. After completing the game, WKZ News reveal that Rushmore was found dead, but it is currently unknown if he committed suicide or was executed. His partisans claimed that the video was a fake video in order to discredit the mayor. Charlotte Gardner was then chosen as an interim mayor, following Rushmore's death. Delford "Iraq" Wade: ⭐ Full Name: Delford Wade ⭐ Age: 26 ⭐ Born: 1987 ⭐ Nationality: American ⭐ Residence: Rossi-Fremont ⭐ Affiliation(s): U.S. Army (formerly), Black Viceroys, Lucky Quinn ⭐ Profession: Gang leader ⭐ Rank: Enforcer ⭐ Status: Deceased ⭐ Died: 2013 ⭐ Cause of Death: Gunned down by Aiden Pearce Delford Wade was born in 1987 and was raised along with his cousin Tyrone Hayes. Delford joined the United States Army and fought in the Iraq War. After being honorably discharged, Delford became the leader of the Black Viceroys, who nicknamed him "Iraq" because of his military experience. In a relatively short amount of time, Iraq turned the small gang into a powerful crime syndicate. The Viceroys, led by Iraq, seized control of the abandoned Rossi-Fremont public housing project, and made the abandoned apartment buildings into an almost impenetrable fortress, loaded with CTOS equipment and card readers. Iraq dealt with the Chicago South Club leader Dermot "Lucky" Quinn, to associate both gangs. He split his gang into two groups: the first one was tasked with running small deals in Chicago, and was mainly young gangsters, and a second group that he considers his 'family,' and operates from Rossi-Fremont. The second group received military training and gear from their leader. Iraq also used servers from Rossi-Fremont to hack into the data of many people in order to obtain blackmail that he would use to become the new "king" of Chicago. Iraq got data from almost everybody, including the Blume Corporation, Lucky Quinn, and the Police. Iraq planned to release all of it at the right time but was lacking only one piece of his scheme: the footage of Mayor Rushmore murdering Rose Washington. JB "Defalt" Markowicz: ⭐ Full Name: JB Markowicz ⭐ Nationality: American ⭐ Residence: Chicago ⭐ Alias(es): Defalt, Ratboy, The rat, Defect, ~~(8:> ⭐ Affiliation(s): Dot ConneXion, Blume Corporation (Bad Blood) ⭐ Profession: Black hat hacker, Professional Hacker, DJ ⭐ Status: Deceased ⭐ Died: 2014 ⭐ Cause of Death: Gassed to death by T-Bone Defalt is a disc jockey who works in Dot ConneXion at Ambrose Theatre, and a blackhat hacker for hire who works against DedSec. He is a minor antagonist in Watch Dogs and also the main antagonist of Watch Dogs: Bad Blood. Defalt's background is mostly left unclear. His name implies he is from Eastern Europe, likely Poland. He later started working for Dot ConneXion as a DJ, and became a hacker for hire, apparently notorious (as he was known by both Raymond "T-Bone" Kenney and Dermot "Lucky" Quinn), and a "brilliant" hacker, in T-Bone's words. Watch Dogs: Bad Blood further reveals his background. He had a brother under suicide watch in a mental hospital watch prior to the Northeast Blackout of 2003. The statewide blackout caused by T-Bone gave him the chance to escape and was found later after he hanged himself. Ever since that event, Markowicz hated T-Bone and sought revenge. He then started to work as an informant for Blume, in order to find him. It is also known that he attempted to enter the DedSec group, though he was refused as his job was against DedSec's policy of its members being anonymous; he does not operate under his own name, but he had a notorious created identity as "Defalt" that he refused to give up when the group demanded it. He had a grudge against DedSec ever since. The storyline of Watch Dogs explores the impact of technology within our society; bringing to the forefront the concept of information warfare, data being interconnected, and the world's increasing use of technology - questioning who exactly runs the computers they depend on. The game is set in a contemporary fictionalized version of Chicago, Illinois, which is one of many cities to feature a supercomputer known as CTOS (Central Operating System). In this version of Chicago, everyone and everything is connected. The city's overarching network controls almost every piece of technology in the city; banks, security cameras, traffic lights, communication hubs, and even key data on the city's residents and activities have been complied into the system and can be used for various purposes. In the game's universe, the Northeast blackout of 2003 was found to be caused by a hacker, prompting the development of CTOS. Summary Of Events: The player controls a vigilante named Aiden Pearce, who possesses the singular ability to hack into various electronic devices tied to the city's central operating system, the CTOS, through his Smartphone, via an application dubbed the "Profiler". Pearce has graduated from adolescent street thug to a brilliant hacker; his hacking and social engineering skills ensured he made plenty of underworld contacts, while his aptitude for antisocial behavior has driven him towards a multitude of clandestine activities and scams. After the death of his six year old niece, Lena Pearce, due to his past connections to less then legal activities and people, Aiden vowed to protect his remaining family, using the technology and the CTOS to punish those responsible. The Full History: In 2012, Aiden Pearce, along with Damien Brenks, hack into the Merlaut Hotel, owned by Dermot Quinn, in order to steal from peoples bank accounts. Quinn, otherwise known as "Lucky" Quinn, thought he was being hacked at the same time, for a video of the Chicago mayor murdering a woman named Rose Washington. He issues a hit on Aiden and Damien. While driving with his niece, Aiden's car tires are shot by Maurice Vega, a hitman hired by the Chicago South Club. The car drifts and shortly after, rolls upside-down killing Aiden's niece, Lena Pearce. Forcing Aiden to seek revenge. Eleven months later, Aiden has tracked down Vega and interrogated him for the name of his employer. Vega claims he didn't know their name and stated that Aiden was walking into something he couldn't handle. Aiden then raises his gun to shoot him, but the clip is empty. Vega then attempts to attack Aiden, who subdues him with his baton. He then meet's with his associate, Jordi Chin, who confesses that he purposely emptied Aiden's clip and had called the police to cover up the deaths of several Black Viceroys. Aiden then leaves Jordi to take Vega to a secure location while he escapes the stadium. After resting at his motel hideout, Aiden heads over to his sister Nicole's house for Jackson's birthday. The exchange is relatively amicable, but then Aiden notices Nicole acting distressed on her phone and proceeds to hack it, overhearing someone threatening to break into her house. After the call ends, Nicole hastily fastened the locks. Aiden expresses concern but Nicole tells him that he can't fix everything and orders him to leave. Aiden then tracks the number of the prank caller and pursues him. While in pursuit, he gets a call from Nicole, apologizing for her outburst and asks him to come back, and realizing what he's doing, insists that he let it go. Eventually he catches his target and hacks his phone, learning that someone put him up to this. He gives the information to his DedSec contact, "BadBoy17", in hopes of figuring it out. After Aiden breaks into the CTOS center in the Loop, BadBoy17 is able to begin tracking down the source of the call. Meanwhile, Aiden has his first face-to-face encounter with "Lucky Quinn" while carrying out a fixer contract for Jordi. "BadBoy17" soon asks Aiden to meet him in person. Aiden agrees and discovers that "BadBoy17" is actually Clara Lille, a female French-Canadian hacker masquerading as a male. Clara updates Aiden's profiler with DedSec level system hacks and initiates an official partnership between the two. Eventually, Clara pinpoints the source of the call to an apartment complex. Aiden follows the lead and discovers that his former partner Damien is the one who ordered the harassment of Nicole. Damien tells Aiden to meet him before blowing up his apartment. Aiden meets Damien, who is heavily intoxicated, and Damien reveals that there was a third hacker at the Merlaut job, other than Aiden and himself. As he was crippled in the aftermath of the Merlaut job, Damien proposes that he and Aiden become partners again. Aiden, however, rejects him, since he blames Damien's "going too far" for Lena's death, despite Damien pointing out that Aiden's own investigation had "hit a brick wall". Troubled after his encounter with Damien, as well as the realization that he needs Damien's information, Aiden visits Lena's grave and reminisces about a previous visit with Nicole. Aiden is then alerted by Jordi that a gang member from the stadium, Raul Lionzo, has survived and is incarcerated and is likely to reveal Aiden's identity to anyone who wants it. After interrogating Lance Brenner, using Jordi as sniper support, he discovers that Angelo Tucci is planning to get Aiden's identity from Lionzo. Aiden eventually tracks Tucci down, after manipulating his niece Helena, and kills him before he can kidnap Lionzo. In order to prevent Lionzo from revealing his identity, Aiden conspires with Jordi to sneak into Palin Correctional Center, the prison in which Lionzo is being held and intimidates the gang member. Once Jordi has alerted his contacts inside the prison to the plan, Aiden pretends to turn himself in. Once stripped of all of his weapons (although he was allowed to keep his phone due to a corrupt guard who owed Jordi) and placed in a cell, Aiden escapes. Aiden proceeds to sneak around the prison, hacking the security as he goes, until he finds Lionzo in the exercise yard. Lionzo, however, is lead to the basement by some corrupt guards and beaten while they demand to know the vigilante's identity. After neutralizing all of the guards, Aiden threatens Lionzo with an extended sentence if he reveals his identity to anybody. Aiden then retrieves his gear and escapes from the prison. After the prison break, Aiden is again contacted by Damien. Needing Damien's information, Aiden reluctantly goes to a meeting place and waits for Damien. Instead, Damien calls Aiden and hacks the area's TVs to show himself in Nicole's kitchen. Enraged, Aiden arrives at Nicole's house and after physically assaulting Damien discovers that Damien has kidnapped Nicole, although Jackson got away, and threatens to kill her in order to blackmail Aiden into retrieving a hard drive which will lead them to the third hacker. Damien then gives Aiden a hard drive full of data from his investigation and leaves. Worrying about Jackson, Aiden locates him by tracking his tablet's signal. After neutralizing the fixers chasing Jackson, Aiden joins his nephew on the train and arranges for Jackson's therapist Yolanda Mendez to take care of him until he gets Nicole back, although he lies to Yolanda and says Nicole is taking some time to grieve alone. Aiden is also alerted a possible lead in finding Nicole as Jackson, using a drawing on his tablet, tells Aiden that the men in the house were talking about Racine Boat Restoration. After hacking the CTOS center in Brandon Docks, Aiden breaks into the boat restoration facility in an effort to find its owner Robert Racine. After hacking an office computer and the security cameras connected to it, Aiden overhears a phone conversation between Racine and Damien and discovers that, while Racine did kidnap Nicole, he doesn't know anything of use. Aiden then kills Racine and gets in a heated phone conversation with Damien, who refuses to let Aiden speak to Nicole. Upon returning to his motel room, Aiden finds a video in the flash drive Damien gave him; however, the file is corrupted. Already frustrated, he pulls a gun on Clara when she suddenly enters his room. Pulling it together, Aiden asks for her input on the video. Checking the file, Clara tells Aiden that the file is permanently corrupted, and he needs the original in order to view it. After showing Clara the IP address Damien gave him as well explaining his current situation, Aiden prevents Clara from leaving the room because he hears car screeches. Both take cover and Aiden detonates explosives in his room as armed men shoot at them through the window. Clara escapes through the back door as Aiden returns fire and detonates more explosives in order to remove all evidence of his investigation. After killing an attacker holding Clara hostage, Aiden defends her as she makes her way to her car, killing all of the attackers before reinforcements show up. Once out of danger Clara calls Aiden and arranges to meet him at a dock. Aiden also receives a mocking call from Damien who is indifferent to Aiden losing his entire network and simply tells him to solve his problem. Damien then allows Aiden to speak to Nicole. After reassuring her that Jackson is safe and trying to calm his sister, Aiden is cut off by Damien, who refuses to let them speak again until he gets results. Having lost his base and all of his equipment, Clara informs Aiden of the Bunker, the first CTOS testing site which is a blind spot in the system through which none of Aiden's activities could be detected. Using a nearby surveillance camera's footage, Aiden discovers that a man named Tobias Frewer knows how to control the bridge to the Bunker. Clara informs Aiden of Tobias' history as a Blume employee and directs him to Tobias' Crafting Shop. The two visit the shop but discover that it is locked. After tapping into a phone conversation and tracking Tobias' phone signal, Aiden learns he is in an illegal poker game. After neutralizing the Fixers also after Tobias, Aiden joins the poker game and identifies Tobias. Paranoid, Tobias flips the table over and flees, leading Aiden to give chase and tackle Tobias to the ground. After Aiden threatens him with his own gun, Tobias informs Aiden that the Bunker lacks power and, after some encouragement, gives Aiden the remote to the Bunker's bridge. After telling Aiden to come to his shop if he needs anything, Tobias leaves. After hearing that Maurice gave up some information to Jordi, Aiden activates the bridge to the Bunker and restores power to the island by activating the three generators scattered around the island. Aiden then takes the elevator, disguised as a shipping container, to the Bunker. Clara soon joins him and the two agree to not divulge the Bunker's existence to anyone until Aiden completes his investigation. Together the two restore power to the bunker and enable it to get back online. After tracking the IP address Clara discovers that the address originated in Rossi-Fremont, the district where the Black Viceroys hold power. After hacking the local CTOS center, Aiden ventures into the Black Viceroys' compound and shuts down all three security terminals in order to make infiltration easier. He also discovers that the Viceroys had rerouted all of the CTOS activity in the area, something made more suspicious by Blume's lack of action in repairing the damage. Aiden also concludes that Chicago was drastically underestimating the Viceroys as a simple street gang when in reality they were smart and organized (a charade unbeknownst to Aiden was intentional). After hacking the CTOS tower in the Viceroy compound, Aiden leaves the district. On his way to the Bunker, Aiden receives a call from Tobias who informs him of an arms trade being orchestrated by the police. Upon his return to the Bunker, and after a brief discussion about teamwork with Clara, Aiden uses his CTOS access to look inside Rossi-Fremont's cameras to gain a deeper insight into their operations. He discovers that they utilize cross wiring and are heavily armed, confirming Aiden's earlier suspicion that the Viceroys are not a typical street gang. Eventually Aiden observes Delford "Iraq" Wade emerge from a server room which requires a security card, which is hidden in his dog tags. Aiden and Clara watch as Iraq meets with both his cousin, Tyrone "Bedbug" Hayes, whom he briefly threatens and a Chicago South Club member. The Club member puts Lucky Quinn on speaker. Quinn angrily questions Iraq over his stealing of Quinn's guest list, although Iraq dismisses it as a business collaboration. Once the call ends a Viceroy explains to Iraq the meaning behind one of Quinn's phrases, angering Iraq, who proceeds to bash the Viceroy's skull in with the briefcase containing the guest list. Iraq then dismisses the henchmen and returns to his locked server room. After witnessing these events, Aiden forms a plan to get inside the locked room. Theorizing that Bedbug is close to being eliminated due to incompetence, Aiden plans to blackmail Bedbug into sneaking into the locked room by getting evidence of him making his next mistake. Aiden also receives another call from Damien who allows him to speak to a significantly more calm Nicky after mocking him over his recent car chase, referencing his battle with the Fixers hunting Tobias. Aiden arrives in Bedbug's neighborhood and begins to follow him as he makes contact with numerous associates. Slowly Aiden begins to build up a cache of audio logs and videos proving that Bedbug is disloyal to Iraq. Eventually Bedbug gets a call from his informant Gary "Rabbit" Diggs. Aiden hacks a nearby surveillance camera and overhears the conversation between the two. Despite Rabbit trying to negotiate telling Bedbug that Iraq intends to kill him, Bedbug turns violent and pulls a gun on Rabbit. Aiden intervenes by causing a regulator to burst, interrupting the execution and giving Rabbit time to hide. Bedbug, suddenly enraged, orders Viceroys in the vicinity to kill Rabbit on sight. Aiden, wanting to hear about the assassination plan, makes contact with Rabbit and offers to guide him to safety in return for information. Rabbit agrees and either escapes, giving Aiden information in the process or is seen and attacked, meaning Aiden must hack his dropped phone to get the information. Either way, Aiden learns that an ambush has been set for Bedbug in the closed down Sienna Brick Factory, better known as "The Bricks". Aiden, seeing an opportunity, goes about setting up a trap for the hitmen so that it looks like Bedbug has murdered fierce criminals, which would lead to Iraq trusting him and gaining prestige in the Black Viceroys. Aiden calls Jordi in order to procure some explosive IEDs and arranges to meet him along with "his boys". Aiden then meets Jordi and "his boys", in reality two corpses Jordi wishes to dispose of, and, after testing the explosives, "the girls", on Jordi's truck, places several explosives around the site of the ambush. Using both the explosives and his own equipment, Aiden proceeds to kill all of the hitmen as well as their reinforcements. He then joins Bedbug's position in The Loop, where he exposes to him his blackmail (Aiden does not show himself to Bedbug). Aiden then informs Bedbug by phone that he "is gonna be [Aiden's] eyes and ears inside Rossi-Fremont". Bedbug tells him that the only way to approach Iraq is at an auction, where Iraq and Quinn will be. Clara then tells Aiden that she can copy Iraq's RFID chip if he gets close enough. Clara has then localized the briefcase containing the guests list. Aiden tails the owner, finds it in a Club-owned old marina, and takes pictures of the list. He decides to take the name of Nicholas Crispin, an American man who moved to Europe 12 years ago. As he doesn't want him to blow his cover, Aiden finds Crispin in a car dealership in Mad Mile (after hacking the local CTOS control center) and kills him. He then goes to the Infinite 92 club where he meets "The Poppy Special", an escort girl intended to be Crispin's. Aiden tells her that he isn't Crispin and that he will find a way to save her. Aiden can now attend the auction. Using Crispin's ticket, Aiden enters the auction, where he briefly meets Iraq. Aiden hacks Iraq's dogtag's, allowing Clara to obtain Iraq's RFID. Lucky Quinn, however, was aware of Crispin's death and ordered his men to go after and kill Aiden on sight. Aiden, however, gets past the Viceroys' security guards and escapes. On his way out, he calls the police and informs them about a shootout in Brandon Docks, at the auction. The police then save all of the sex slaves. Yolanda Mendez calls Aiden after his job at the auction. She tells him that she is worried since Jackson went missing. Aiden traces him in northern Mad Mile and kills all the Fixers after him. Jackson, however, is terrified because of Aiden having killed a large number of Fixers under Jackson's eyes (who was watching the scene from the security cameras). Aiden drives him back to Mendez's house, where Jackson speaks (although briefly) to Aiden for the first time since Lena's death. There, Yolanda threatens Aiden with calling the police if she doesn't have any news of Nicole soon. Aiden can now continue his job at Rossi-Fremont. He leaves a bug in a bin in a bar not far from the compound and calls Bedbug to tell him to pick it up. Sneaking into the building, Aiden enters a small room then hacks into the cameras to find Bedbug. Aiden guides Bedbug to the server room, which he opens thanks to the key Aiden hacked from Iraq at the auction. Bedbug starts downloading the data, but hears some noises and panics, while he has only downloaded 23% of the data. Iraq and his bodyguard find Bedbug inside the room. Iraq threatens to throw Bedbug out the window. He, however, notices the bug from Aiden and orders his men to find Aiden. After Aiden loses the Viceroys' henchmen, Bedbug calls him to tell him he still alive and that Iraq mentioned a Rose Washington on the video. Convinced that Bedbug knew nothing, Iraq spared him. Aiden then agrees to cut him loose. Upon Aiden's return to the Bunker, Clara informs Aiden that she is unable to decrypt Iraq's data. She then tells Aiden about Raymond Kenney, a former CTOS pioneer, and thinks that only he is able to decrypt the data. Aiden then goes to the Wards, where Kenney's last signal came from. Thanks to the computer he found, Aiden and Clara find out that Kenney hides in Pawnee. Aiden kills every fixer in the area, and wipes the hard drive. Two fixers aware of Kenney's whereabouts, however, escape in a fire truck. Aiden chases them and kills them, then goes to Pawnee to find Kenney. As Aiden arrives in Pawnee, he must first hack into the local CTOS center. Having CTOS access in the area, he finds Kenney's signal coming from a computer in the local marina. Aiden uses it to track another signal from "Ray", which comes from an abandoned CTOS station in the mountains. Aiden hacks the terminal and finds an audio log, which gives Ray's position in a bar in Pawnee. Aiden goes there and finds a man who goes by the name of "T-Bone Grady". When Aiden asks T-Bone if he knows Kenney, he challenges him to a drinking game. As Aiden succeeds, T-Bone punches him out of the bar. Aiden briefly handles him with his baton, but T-Bone, who is actually Raymond Kenney, paralyzes Aiden using a taser. Aiden wakes up in Ray's safehouse, and he tells him that he can't help Aiden in Chicago because the CTOS was programmed by Blume to identify him, as Kenney is a wanted man. Ray tells him that if Aiden can upload his virus in the Blume database, it will wipe Ray's signal from the system and will allow him to go to Chicago. T-Bone then shows Aiden his safehouse, with armed robots that he crafted in case he was ever attacked. T-Bone offers Aiden a deal: if Aiden does him some favors, T-Bone will help him. Aiden must first steal a truck containing hardware that was taken from him by the local Pawnee Militia. T-Bone then asks him to tail a Blume helicopter that is heading towards a Blume compound, as Aiden needs the ID of a Blume security chief in order to break inside their headquarters. Aiden finds the two chiefs in a camping lot and copies their IDs. He then proceeds to kill a few Militia men heading for the Blume HQ. T-Bone then tells him that he has created a virus that should wipe any file about Kenney on the database. Aiden then heads from the Blume HQ. He sneaks inside the area and uploads T-Bone's virus into the database. However, through cameras, he accesses a meeting between Charlotte Gardner and Damien, who offers to exchange Kenney's whereabouts for total access to the CTOS. Feeling that Kenney is uncovered, Aiden escapes the compound and races to T-Bone's hideout, being assaulted by the Militiamen. T-Bone has then no other choice but to blow up his hideout, while being covered by Aiden. Both escape the hideout, and Aiden and T-Bone head for their next stop, the Bunker. T-Bone, otherwise "the legendary Raymond Kenney", is at first skeptical because of Damien's deal, but finally agrees to help him. Aiden heads then for his next stop, Rossi-Fremont, after requesting sniper support from Jordi. Aiden enters the building, wipes out any resistance, and hacks into Iraq's server. On his way out, he encounters Iraq in person. Iraq escapes on the rooftop, followed by Aiden. He ultimately kills him after eliminating his remaining security. Aiden then escapes the compound and then heads back to the Bunker, to see what he got from Iraq. However, as soon as they get the data, it is stolen by another hacker, JB Marcowicz, aka Defalt. During the hacking breach, "Defalt" sends an audio file that shows that Clara was hired by unknown men to trace Aiden and Damien after the Merlaut Job. Aiden asks her who did it, but because she doesn't know anything, he tells her to stay away from him. Aiden is then forced to turn up at Damien's meeting without data. Aiden tried backing Damien into a corner, pointing out that without the blackmail, Blume would most likely send fixers after him. Damien then allowed another phone call with Aiden. However, believing his protégé was not taking him seriously, Damien has a fixer waiting in a WKZ truck broadcasting images of Aiden's vigilantism on all the large TV screens, effectively blowing his cover. Escaping the police, Aiden sends to T-Bone a piece of audio from the call with Nicky, that might give her position. T-Bone then informs him that he found where "Defalt" lives. They, however, get nothing and must escape waves of Fixers sent by "Defalt". T-Bone then figures out that "Defalt" works as a DJ in a night club, Dot ConneXion, in the Ambrose Theater. Aiden counters "Defalt's" hacks and finds him. Defalt, however, notices him and triggers a blackout in the club, allowing him to leave. Aiden chases him and encounters other Fixers on the rooftop. Aiden downloads back all the data that was stored on "Defalt's" person. T-Bone then informs him that he got everything and that he worked on the audio piece to find a name: Brent Ulster. Aiden goes to his place of work, a wastewater treating plant in Brandon Docks. He rescues Nicky and drives her (along with Jackson) out of town. On their way out, Aiden must dodge incoming police forces, sent after him because Mendez called 911 on him. During the chase, Nicole ultimately learns that her brother was the Vigilante. Aiden and Nicky say their last goodbye, before she leaves Chicago. T-Bone then sends an audio piece revealing that the one who ordered the hit was Lucky Quinn, leader of the Chicago South Club. Aiden goes to the Merlaut Hotel, "where he fucked up his life", where Quinn organized a benefit. Aiden sneaks by the security, kills the Club hitmen, and reaches Quinn's offices. Aiden then faces Quinn, who is protected from Aiden by a bulletproof window. Aiden, however, hacks his pacemaker, causing him to collapse due to a heart attack. While dying, Quinn shows to Aiden the footage of mayor Donovan Rushmore murdering Blume former employee Rose Washington. Quinn used the video as blackmail to control the mayor, and fearing that someone was looking for it, ordered a hit on Aiden and Damien after their job at the Merlaut, while actually they were only looking for money. Aiden then hacks Quinn's pacemaker, killing him, and downloads the video. Aiden escapes the police forces after leaving the hotel. On his way out, Damien calls him and tells him that Clara called him (Damien), offering to exchange the reality (that Clara worked for the Club) for Nicky. Aiden then races to Clara, who's putting flowers on Lena's grave, to see her get shot by the Club hitmen sent by Quinn. Aiden kills all of the hitmen and downloads an audio log from Clara's phone, on which she talks about first seeing Aiden and Jackson playing chess in the park, after Lena's funeral; and explains her reasons for helping him "heal" from Lena's death. The message ends with Clara saying that if they cannot talk when "this is all over", she can "at least disappear. That's something [she's] good at." Aiden then calls T-Bone to tell him the bad news, and that he is coming back to the Bunker. As he enters the Bunker, he encounters T-Bone who's packing up, saying that he has to leave if Iraq's blackmail is uploaded to the public. Aiden leaves the Bunker and receives a call from Damien, who tells him that he has completely unlocked the CTOS. Dodging the police forces and the CTOS (hacked traffic lights, steam pipes, blockers, etc.), Aiden calls T-Bone to tell him about Damien. Aiden tries to hack into the CTOS, but he can't get past the firewall. T-Bone tells him that there are three weak points and that he has to upload a virus T-Bone created so it would disable the firewall. After Aiden did so, he goes back to the CTOS control panel. Before hacking in, Aiden receives a message from DedSec, who offers to install a breach in the CTOS if Aiden waits 30 seconds before hacking in. DedSec promises that they "will be the watch dogs". Aiden, however, declines and hacks in the CTOS to get to the satellite. Aiden then disables the CTOS, triggering a citywide blackout, and giving him Damien's location, a lighthouse east of the city. Aiden goes there and confronts him. Jordi, however, arrives and tells him that he has a new contract, and ask Aiden to drop his gun. Aiden then uses the Profiler to blow up the lighthouse's light, knocking Jordi down and throwing him over the railing. Aiden grabs a gun and then quickly shoots Damien in the head. As the city lights come back on, Aiden reflects on the past events. He started out trying to avenge a little girl's death, only to end up weeding out criminals and corruption and it changed him as well. Remarking that everything is connected, Aiden then embraces his role as the "Vigilante", vowing to protect, and if necessary, to punish. Credits then roll out, with various WKZ broadcasts, informing that Rushmore was found dead, that Mendez was writing a book on the Vigilante, and that Blume is working on an upgrade to the CTOS: CTOS 2.0. After the credits, Aiden receives a final call from Jordi, who has survived. He gives him Maurice's location, and tells him that he can do whatever he wants with him. Aiden finds Maurice in a garage, and has the choice to either leave him be or to shoot him. Audio Logs are collectibles in the Watch Dogs series. They can be played back as many times as the player wishes after obtaining them. They all contain additional info as to the backstory of the game. They are usually put in some spare rooms or hidden places that player has to discover. AIDEN PEARCEAiden has five audio logs that can be obtained (all five) simply by hacking Aiden's computer in his Owl Motel room. When hacked, the fifth will display but all other can be accessed in the Audio Logs app on Aiden's smartphone. In Bad Blood, Aiden has three additional audio logs. The first and third can be found in Nicky's house in Parker Square, on the living room couch and the kitchen table respectively, while the second can be found outside of Aiden's former room at the Owl Motel. Audio Log #1: "In my neighborhood, you stood up or you got beat down...So I stood up. I ran with an ugly crowd. Learned how to fight. How to shoot. I paid for it too. I took the hits so my family wouldn't have to. Mom always said we escaped Dad when we left him back in Belfast. She only wanted peace for us and he was always fighting for something. She saw that fire in me, too. She said her sweet little boy was gone - I'd turned into Dad. That should have stung, but it didn't. I was proud to hear it." Audio Log #2: "First time I came close to getting caught was about eight years ago, I had a trainer who started questioning me. He noticed my bruises, my stitches and how I tried to work through broken ribs. He suspected I was fighting outside the gym, but he didn't know why. Would he have called the police? I couldn't risk it, so I dropped him. I needed to focus on my mental game anyway. I'd been reading up on the big cons. Social engineering. Psychology. Intimidation tactics. I needed to be able to win a fight before it even began. I wasn't there yet, but I am now." Audio Log #3: "Things are rough with Nicky. She wants me back in her life, but I'm not ready to face her. If she knew the truth, it would hurt her even more. So I'll need to find another way to make sure she's safe. I dread the conversation if she ever finds my cameras..." Audio Log #4: "The news is calling it an accident. Wondering if the driver was drunk behind the wheel. I was not drunk. I did not fall asleep at the wheels. And frogs did not fall from the sky. Cops have the ballistics. Someone's covering up. I'm gonna find them." Audio Log #5: "I've hired a Fixer to help me find the shooter. Jordi Chin. I was skeptical at first because the guy's eccentric. He's got a motor-mouth. Insists on wearing a fancy suit to work. So far he delivers. He helped me dig up a name - Maurice Vega." Bad Blood Audio Logs: Aiden Pearce X01: "Sometimes I imagine Nicky and Jackson getting ready for the new day. Maybe they've moved somewhere out in the prairies. They've got a house twice as big as their little place in Chicago. They've got an endless backyard filled with Jackson's toys... his new friends. A normal kid again--loud, full of energy. This whole nightmare is behind him, one of those painful things that becomes dull once you've gained some distance from it. Everything moves slower for them, now. They don't even use the internet... they know better than that. They've changed their names, that's OK -- that helps to dull things, too. Maybe they've forgiven me. I like to think so. Then I see it. Black vans pulling up outside their place. A helicopter flying low. A threatening phone call. It gets my heart racing again. Tempts me to run just one more search. Make a connection. Caus' I know I could find them. But I won't. I can't do that do(sic) them again." Aiden Pearce X02: "I've dealt with enough "Fixers" lately, I'm not even sure what the term means anymore. Maybe I'm old-school, but Jordi Chin always fit my definition: efficient, deadly, and most importantly ... for sale. Whenever I got stuck in a mess, Jordi was the first person I called and the only person I had to call because Fixers get it done. I guess Jordi's old-school too, because this new breed of Fixer has a different way of working. I doubt they could stand toe to toe with Jordi in a gunfight, but they've got something he doesn't - they can hack. They exploit the ctOS. They're networked--they know how to track a digital shadow and coordinate an attack. These guys are fully-adapted modern criminals with a wide range of skills and eventually I'm going to run into one who is better than me. I need to be ready for that." Aiden Pearce X03: "Bring the oven to 350 F. With a wooden spoon, mix your butter into the mashed bananas. Use a large mixing bowl. Next, mix in the sugar, egg and vanilla. Lightly sprinkle in your baking soda. Mix vigorously. Add your flour, and mix. Pour the mix into a buttered loaf shape pan, and bake for 15 minutes, cool for 10 minutes. Remember the most important step, Enjoy!" DELFORD WADEIraq has eight audio logs: five of these must be found during the storyline, three can be accessed in free roam.
Audio Log #1: "Yo get out, I'm recording. A'ight here it is. My legacy. Iraq's legacy. See Lucky Quinn gets all the respect - fuckin' skeleton and his goon squad, they're old Chicago. Still ridin' the roaring 20s and shit. I got some deals runnin' with the old fuck, but I don't trust him and he don't trust me. Shit at least we speak the same language." Audio Log #2: "Lucky thinks every problem can be solved by a gun. He needs to wise up. This "vigilante" that's doggin' everyone - that's the new kind of killa we're up against. See a gun is just a solution to a specific problem - shit when you need to kill somebody fast. Shit but what if you never see him? What if the dude can destroy you before you ever meet him? See I ain't goin' out like that, but I got front row seats if he's taking out the Club. But me... my shit is protected. That bitch won't touch me." Audio Log #3: "Fuckin' DedSec, right? Bunch of one-percenter kids who ain't never had to deal with the street. Can they code? Yeah. I've seen their work. It's solid. But they got nothing to back it up. Police come knocking and they're done. I got bite to back up the bark. Police won't even step foot in my yard and I don't need to hide behind no fucking mask. DedSec is a fad. I'm the damn future." Audio Log #4: "Bedbug. Shit this one hurts man, because he's blood. Shit but the kid is soft. And I ain't just talking about the 300-plus he carries, either - shit he takes a lot of shit from the V's and he takes even more shit from Gramma. Shit if my cuz wasn't there to intercept, I think I would've killed the crazy bitch by now. See Bug seems to have my back, but, but shit I don't know how much longer I can have his." Audio Log #5: "The CtOS is the best thing Blume could have done for Chicago's uh... entrepreneurs. Police got an eye on every corner, which means they pick up all the small-time players who don't know no better. Cuts away my competition. But if you know what I know - and if you can do what I can do - you take their hardware and you use it to protect yourself. Shit my little castle here? It's got state-o-the-art security - paid for by the giving taxpayers of Chicago. Thank you, everybody." Audio Log #6: "Hell it's better for me if everybody thinks the V's are a bunch of dumb-ass thugs. Some of them are, for sure. They're my decoys. I run them low-level on the streets, let them tag, bag, and bang. But my crew, my real fam - I train em with the shit I brought back from the desert: Tactics, psychology, SIGINT. Anybody gets close to Rossi-Fremont, they're going to see what they want to see -- drugs, guns and theft. But upstairs..." Audio Log #7: "Upstairs, up in my court, we're playin' the game on a higher level. Police think we're watching the streets. Shit, we're watching the whole damn city and the things we find - that's currency we'll cash in when we need it. I've got dirt on everybody. Quinn, the police. You just watch, I'll get the Mayor, too. I just gotta wait for that perfect moment. And it's comin' soon." Audio Log #8: "So if I catch a bullet... if somebody finds this... you make sure everybody knows what I was. Shit I was nothing, I came from nothing, I got nothing, never asked for shit nothing. But now... Well, you watch the news. I did that. By. My. Self, 'the fuck did you ever do?" DAMIEN BRENKS
Audio Log #1: "It's 3AM and I'm in the hospital. My legs are busted. One pretty bad. Doctor says it won't come back 100%. Apparently I've been here a week. I only remember the night they attacked. I barely reached my front door and these guys were on me. I figured to rob my house, but the police tell me they never entered the building. Just beat me unconscious and left. Cops asked if I had enemies. Where to begin. My guess is the Merlaut job. We rattled somebody's cage. What was that video I saw? Whatever it was, someone wants to keep it secret." Audio Log #2: "I saw my old partner in the paper this morning. 'The driver, Aiden Pearce, 38, lost control of his vehicle in the Pawnee underpass. His young niece, Lena Pearce was killed in the crash.' Poor girl. But Aiden doesn't lose control of vehicles. That was no accident. And the timing's interesting. Same week as my attack. Right after our job at the Merlaut. That's going to upset Aiden. He's a smart hacker, I taught him that. But he's a vengeful sonofabitch. You piss him off, he won't let you go. You kill his niece -- God rest your soul." Audio Log #3: "After months of physiotherapy, the verdict is in. Doctor says my leg will never recover. I'll need a brace for life. Eventually a wheelchair. Those bastards crippled me. They wanted to scare me away. Make me flee to Bermuda and start over. What could be so fucking precious, so secret and dangerous, that they would cripple a man because he glanced at it? They haven't scared me. They've lit a fire under me." Audio Log #4: "Aiden and I weren't the only people raiding the Merlaut Hotel that night. Someone else was snooping inside. But he wasn't after cash. He was after data. He knew precisely what he wanted. That video. How did he know it was there? I don't even know if he got it. He probably had to run once the alarms went off. If I can track him down, I might get some answers on who attacked me." Audio Log #5: "Well that was easy. I've found our secret hacker. My legs may be shot, but I haven't lost my touch at the keyboard. He's hiding inside Rossi-Fremont, some little ghetto corner of Chicago. Welfare, drugs -- they're revolting creatures you keep at arms length. One of these creatures snuck inside the Merlaut server. Maybe I'll find that video on his computer. Problem is I can't break in remotely. I need someone to go inside. Someone more street-savvy than me. Someone like me. Unfortunately, he won't work with me anymore. He's made that pretty clear." Audio Log #6: "I've been reading lots on Chicago's new vigilante. He seems to have popped out of nowhere. Most interesting, he arrived on the scene soon after Aiden's car crash. Isn't that curious? The two share a self-righteous anger. Could it really be him? Aiden's always been a dangerous fighter. I cleaned him up good and taught him how to breach a network. But he always had that hair trigger rage. You can never take the street punk out of a man like Aiden. I suppose being the vigilante gives him a safe outlet." Audio Log #7: "Well well, the police are in quite a frenzy. The vigilante's twisted their panties in a knot. If I were to psycho-analyze Aiden, I'd say he's projecting. He can't fix the death of his niece, so he's fixing all other injustices littering our streets. Maybe that helps scratch the itch, but it doesn't answer the question that must be nagging at him. Who killed his niece? One thing I've learned about Aiden -- he's got a rabid protective streak. Tinker with his family at your peril. I wonder. Maybe I can tempt him. Give him a way to avenge the little girl. And get what I want." Audio Log #8: "I've found something curious. Something called the Bellwether. I don't have a lot on it, but the name popped up during my review of the Merlaut job. Far as I can tell, it's some kind of code inside CTOS. The term bellwether basically means a harbinger of the future. What a puzzling name for some code inside a smart city. I know my programmers. They over-think everything. That name is deliberate. My curiosity has been piqued." Audio Log #9: "I haven't got all the pieces yet, but that corrupted video from the Merlaut -- somehow that's connected to this Bellwether code. There's an opportunity here. Something beyond simple vengeance. Something memorable. I'll need to be careful. If I involve Aiden, he can't know my motives. The man's reckless, self-centered, but he's got a curiously strong moral compass. It's a terrible weakness. Makes him hard to control. I just need to find a way into that code. See what they're doing inside ctOS, then cripple it all." DERMOT QUINNQuinn has eight audio logs. A few can be found in the storyline, while the rest can be unlocked by completing CTOS breaches. Audio Log #1: "The auction's all set. Tenth in ten years. And this time it's mostly American product. I expect that to drive the prices up. I hope so. Security's been expensive. The police don't like domestic merchandise. It's too risky for them, bad PR if word gets out. I honestly don't care where the product comes for myself, but the clientele - well, they have particular tastes. They've complained enough for years. Eventually, I have to cater to their wishes or I lose their business. Or worse, my reputation." Audio Log #2: "This year I'm handing over the auction security to Iraq and his men, the Viceroys. They've done well distributing our drugs to the addicts of the Wards. I promised Iraq I'd reward him if he came through for us. Well, he has. So his men will run security for the entire event. If all goes well, I'll never have to supply any of my own men in the future. The further I can distance myself, the better. By next year, perhaps I can skip the event myself. I've always found it a distasteful affair. Men and their libido. It's a weakness I've never entertained." Audio Log #3: "I was at City Hall today for my monthly fireside chat with Mayor Rushmore. I do enjoy walking the hallowed halls, marking my territory so to speak. The mayor's been a good soldier, never complained. Always understood his role. He holds the reins to the city, but I ride the carriage. This meeting was interesting. We met with someone from a company called Blume. They have plans to turn Chicago into America's first smart city. As they explain it, this would mean everything private and public would run through a central computer. I don't understand the technicalities, but I do understand an opportunity. I gave the Mayor my blessing to proceed." Audio Log #4: "CTOS has been an impressive project. The mayor masterfully sold it to Chicago and they bought it all. Why not? Saving the public a couple pennies, offer a few treats, and they'll fall to their knees in worship. I financed most of the project and Blume has held up their end of the deal. I've never had such easy access to the secrets of my enemies. If one thing concerns me, it's the Mayor. Quite suddenly he's a man of the people - reading too many editorials I suppose. If this continues, we'll need to have a chat." Audio Log #5: "What an interesting meeting. My regular Blume contact brought along an Italian programmer named Desipio. He proposed a solution to our Mayor Rushmore problem. I'm not sure I believe it, but if it works, then CTOS will become the most powerful weapon I've ever owned. It seems they can program the system to target precise results such as, let's say, the re-election of our Mayor Rushmore. He's a very unpopular man right now and the election's coming, I've instructed this Desipio, yeah, to prove his software works. I need Rushmore in office. If he can do it, then we'll consider solutions to keeping the Mayor in line." Audio Log #6: "Rushmore's become a thorn in my side. Ever since winning the re-election, he's under the illusion he works for people. He's actually trying to follow through on campaign promises. Regulate CTOS? It's time to bring our mayor in line permanently. I've instructed Blume to use CTOS and arrange some blackmail I can use. A dead hooker, underage boy, I don't care, but I told them I want it soon. To their credit, they never blinked. They're going to use the same software they used for the election. A bellwether of some kind. Amazing what can happen when everyone's suitably motivated." Audio Log #7: "I now own the Mayor. It took eight weeks. CTOS began targeting our beloved mayor daily. And a mere 48 days later, I had my blackmail. That's impressive. And so is the material. Absolutely scandalous if it gets out. I've already shown the mayor it's content and he agrees. He's ruined in every sense if anyone sees it. But I must protect the material. If it ever went public, it would be worthless to me. What good is blackmail if it's not a secret? The mayor must live in constant fear that I "might" leak it. It's what keeps him answering my every whim." Audio Log #8: "We've had to terminate our association with Clara Lille. She was a skilled hacker we'd hired in the past. She helped to track people we couldn't find through regular channels. She knows our work, knows what's involved. Curiously, she's developed a conscience. I met the young girl once. A charming thing, very smart. Sadly she's become a liability. It's a shame to see her go. But I've heard things about another hacker. A young man named Defalt. We'll have to arrange a meeting." ROSE WASHINGTONFormer employee of Blume alongside Raymond Kenney and Tobias Frewer. Helped develop ctOS at the Bunker. 3 Audio logs in total, all can be found through CTOS breaches. Audio Log #1: My name is Rose Washington... and I'm uploading this log because... I'm scared for my life. I used to work at Blume. I don't know what happened to the others... Tobias and Ray. We were all fired. Someone's watching me. Audio Log #2: I think someone is selling access to the network. Mayor Rushmore and his entire team have been pushing hard for CtOS integration. It's his entire platform. So either he's oblivious or he's in on it. I'm going to get closer and find out. Audio Log #3: Someone's been following me. I've already burned two phones. I have to get out. But I can't. The entire city is vulnerable. Donovan... Mayor Rushmore is growing more fond of me. And I don't know how I feel about it. The election's coming up fast. I overheard Don on the phone... The voter list is set to run through some new CtOS algorithm. I'm going to hack into his personal files and see what I can find. FINGERPAINT KILLER - EDGAR NOONERevealed through the Missing Persons investigations. He is a serial killer who targets women with hemophilia, which he himself has. There are six audio logs in total, all can be found next to the victims bodies through the Missing Persons investigation. The devices that hold the records are mobile phones. Audio Log #1: "My blood wants to mix with hers. We are veins to the same heart. Blood to the beast. I hurt it here. I hurt it bad. But it's too strong." Audio Log #2: "It doesn't have hands, it has them. It has fingers. I am one, but I am not part of the body. She was. She...was." Audio Log #3: "Blind the eyes. It opens more, but it is slow. I am not slow. Even if they say. I am NOT slow. I am faster than the eyes. Than the blood." Audio Log #4: "This is wrong. It's wrong. My head says it. My heart. But it's in there. It lies. She lied, too. They all lie for him." Audio Log #5: "There is no Heaven or Hell. Just him or nothing. I give him nothing. Mercy, it's all I can do." Audio Log #6: "It's close now. Almost here. I don't have time. It wants me to hurt real people. I have to cut the tongue. I have to make it quiet." MAURICE VEGAThere are eight audio logs in total. One of these phones is the first object that Aiden hacks during Bottom of the Eighth. Seven more are found through the Burner Phones investigation. Audio Log #1: "I can't keep running. I can't do it. That fucking Aiden Pearce. I killed his niece. He won't stop chasing me. Who is this guy? What am I gonna do? He keeps coming!" Audio Log #2: "Last week I was the happiest man alive. New wife. Abigail. My Abbie. She was my fresh start. Knows my past but loves me still. And then the phone call. Told him I was out of the game. These guys never let you out. You can pay every debt a hundred times and they'll just keep calling. I can't do this anymore. Audio Log #3: "That was a mistake. I screwed up big. I just wanted to get out. That's all. Clean break, me and Abbie. Oh god how could I do this. These guys got eyes everywhere. They know everything. They told me every fucking thing I bought at the grocers. The fucking ctOS! Guy called, and said if I try it again, they'll kill my wife. Just like that. Like some small inconvenience to him. About my wife. I never told her. But she kept pushing me. Let's go, we need to leave town. She thinks I'm getting pulled back into the life. She has no idea how right she was." Audio Log #4: "I took the job. I had no choice. I had to protect Abbie. They would've killed her. Said it was a small job. Some tech lab out West in the middle of nowhere. Place was deserted. No one, no lights. It was pitch black. I'm doing lookout with binoculars. But there's no one. My partner's covering the South. We were there at least 3 hours and there's fuck-all but wild rabbits. Then he says pack it up. Saying, job's over. So I'm thinking, shit I fucked up. Then he said it went better than expected. I go back and he gives me an extra $200 bucks for a job well done. I mean, what the fuck is that, hey? These guys, man. How can you trust guys like that?" Audio Log #5: "What did I just do? What was I thinking? Fuck. They, they gave me a bigger job this time. Wanted me to follow on some job. A guy skipped out on them and they found him. These guys wanted me to see what happens. A warning. The guy had just enough time to recognize them and they were all over him. Two fucking teeth landed at my feet. I've seen this before. Done it before. Wasn't gonna let it rattle me. And they knew it. So they just kept beating him. Then he stops making any human sounds. Just, like, wheezing. Like-like a... like a fucking pig. And they just kept going. I just said - I said it. 'Stop! He's fucking dead already!' And the one guy just stares at me. And he keeps kicking him. Looking right at me the whole time. He says, "How's the wife?" Audio Log #6: "I been stuck in a cold sweat for over a week. I blew that last job and I was expecting a hit any second. Abbie is freaking out around me. We'd been shouting a lot. She thought I was getting seduced by the life. Fuck me. Fuck. I couldn't tell her the truth. I had to do whatever they wanted. I had no choice. These guys were gonna come over and kill her. So I said I'd take another job. Only this time they didn't want me to fuck around. They had a hit lined up. Some guy, Aiden Pearce. Never heard the name before. And I was going to be the trigger man. I couldn't say no. This was the only offer on the table. This was my get out of jail free card. And I took it." Audio Log #7: "No no no no - what happened? Why was she staring at me? Fuck me, everything just fell apart. I found Pearce, ID'd his car, I rode up beside him, it was... it was just gonna be quick. Shot to the temple and I'm home free. Then this kid - just some little girl. She holds this stuffed toy out the window. She's staring right at me. I got the fucking gun in my hand. I couldn't do it. I couldn't shoot him. So I pulled the gun to his front tire and shot it out. I didn't know what I hoped was gonna happen. I only know they crashed, and that little girl died. I killed her." Audio Log #8: "They've taken Abbie. At first I thought she just left me. I'm a dead-beat fuck up, I couldn't blame her. I checked her work. Her friends. No one's heard from her. And then those bastards called me again. They said I screwed up the Pearce job. No more chances. I begged him not to kill her. I begged him to kill me instead. And the sonofabitch says he was feeling generous. He wasn't gonna kill her. He's gonna send her to an auction instead. The fucking auctions. How do I get her out of that? They got tracking shit on the girls. Get them so fucked up on smack they don't even remember their names. Oh christ, Abbie. The sick fuck who called me -- he said the debt was clean. I was free to live my life. What fucking life have I got?" ANGELA BALIKHer name and voice can be heard on various audio recordings in every Blume Corporation mobile hideout. She is one of the people who tested the Bellwether code on CTOS. There are eleven audio logs, ten can be found in all hideouts (except the Bunker). The devices that hold the logs are Desktop Computers. The remaining one can be found by completing a CTOS breach. NOTE: This section remains incomplete as of 29/06/21. As I complete my second playthrough I will have the transcript of the rest of the files. Audio Log #1: "So, I've been working on my own 'Hello World' for the Bellwether to see if it's really as insidious as I suspect it is. Does the Fibonacci sequence mean anything to you? It's always been one of my favorites. I'm going to throw the Fibonacci numbers out there -- Bellwether should predict where they can have the most subliminal influence, saturating the city within days. The ctOS will then monitor for impact. If I see instances of those numbers echo back throughout the city -- everything I've feared will be in motion. At that point, I'm sending proof to DedSec and they can do whatever they do to make things right." BLUME ENGINEERSThere are six in total can be found throughout the two islands of the Bunker. The devices that hold the logs are WiFi Radios. NOTE: This section remains incomplete as of 29/06/21. As I complete my second playthrough I will have the transcript of the rest of the files.
CHARLOTTE GARDNERGardner was the Chief Communications Officer (CCO) of Blume Corporation. There are three audio logs in total, 2 can be found in the CTOS breaches (15 & 16). Her third audio log is in one of the hideouts (expect for the Bunker), and is located on a Desktop Computer. Audio Log #1: The first audio log is obtained after completing the fourteenth CTOS Breach in Chicago. "The predictive algorithm is a remarkable program. Yes, Sir. But this is more than a standard Bellwether model. It holds great potential. We've already seen it in action with the election. Beyond that, yes. Essentially it's able to adapt... understand... and learn. I can see by your expressions you're as excited about this, as I am. What this means, gentlemen, is that this algorithm is able to anticipate patterns. We've already run tests to see if we can influence those patterns. So far, we have success... Audio Log #2: The second audio log is obtained after completing the fifteenth CTOS Breach Chicago. "Naysayers. Protestors. Hacker groups. Each one has its own agenda. Yes, the CTOS network has suffered attacks. But these are minor. Gentlemen, I can assure you... Our system is robust. Our firewall protection is stronger. As you know, a number of security protocols have been implemented by our elite security team. I see you've all been equipped with your upgraded ID. I can assure you... These cyber-attacks are not a viable threat to the ctOS network or Blume's research. With our security team on it, I have great faith that we will have a breach-free network in the next month." Audio Log #3: The third audio log is obtained after completing the sixteenth CTOS Breach in Chicago. "Any and all 'issues' have been dealt with, and are currently being fixed. Tests consistently show us that citizens are attracted to the ease of use above all else. Blume is about global family. Blume is about ease of use. CTOS network is a positive in people's lives. Our research data shows they're willing to endure the occasional hiccup. The public will stay on our side, I assure you. My recommendation to the Board of Directors is that we continue as planned. It's time to roll out phase two, gentlemen." TYRONE HAYESAudio Log #1: Must be found during By Any Means Necessary. In the corridor leading to a small room with blinds (on the last floor next to the corridor with Iraq's rooms entrance), there is a door on the left side with a card reader on it. Hack the card reader to open the room. The log is inside. Impossible to find out of the mission. "So I'm gonna record this - but oh, shit, almost dropped it. Still going ? Ok. Gonna record my legacy like my cuz Iraq's always doing. Gotta have something to leave behind, just in case - you know. See, Iraq's got it all figured out, got everybody figured out but me. Why's he always doggin' me ? We're blood ! We're family ! I should be right up there by his side. I gotta find a way to show him that." Audio Log #2: Can be found in the Sienna Brick Factory. Can be found during Uninvited and at any time during free roam. "Iraq's got the V's split into two groups. We're the ones out running his shit and we only have two ways out : in a box or under locks. His fam up there on the top floor, though, these motherfuckers, man - they got an escape plan. They're keeping all the money...and the secrets. They don't give a fuck what happens to any of us. I need to get in on that." Audio Log #3: Must be found during By Any Means Necessary. After using the elevator, you will find collapsed debris that allow you to go to the next floor. Under these debris, there is a door with a card reader. Unlock the door to find the log inside. Impossible to find out of the mission. "Who the fuck is this guy ? Shit. He's not Club - Club don't do that. I mean. What-what-what was he ? A cop ? Why would a cop go through all this trouble ? Dude's gonna get me killed, man. Some of those videos - how did he get them ? I never even saw him. Dude, dude must've been following me the whole time, but - how ? Look man I gotta run. I just gotta leave town, but man, I can't leave Gramma. Shit." WEAPONS TRADEThis investigation involves tracking down 10 supply crates located throughout the map. Unlocking CTOS towers will cause these crates to appear on the map, represented by a circle with a target crosshair in the center. As each crate is located behind a locked door, cameras must be used to find the unlock option nearby. When inside, there will be a case with lootable weapons (unless said weapon are already possessed or at maximum capacity) and, in most but not all locations, an audio log. Scanning the case will progress the investigation. Scanning 9 of the 10 cases unlocks the Spec Ops Goblin, a silenced variant of the Goblin burst assault rifle. For the tenth crate, Tobias (provided he has been met beforehand) will give directions to a warehouse filled with Fixers for a final confrontation. Upon killing all of the reinforcements, a second set consisting mostly of Enforcers also arrives. There are seven audio Logs in total. They can be found near to the weapons boxes in the investigation scenes. Audio Log #1: "I've left the package for you where we discussed. This is just a sample. Try them out -- get a good feel. We'll call back in a few weeks and see if you want to make a deal." Audio Log #2: "They picked up the drop. We're already seeing six of the weapons have been fired multiple times. We'll run those against recent crime scenes and see how many match." Audio Log #3: "I understand we're going for convictions here, but why aren't we tracking the weapons for crime prevention? I don't like playing clean-up crew." Audio Log #4: "A pickup got lifted before the target could claim it. I can't wait to find out where this leads. Let's hope for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, or at least a major bust." Audio Log #5: "One of our guns was used to shoot a seven year old. Sure, if it wasn't one of ours, it would have been another gun. I get that, but that doesn't make me feel any less responsible. I guess at least we now have a solid lead on who did it." Audio Log #6: "Obviously, we won't be able to use any tracking information in court, our tactics have to remain a secret for now. I don't even think there's a precedent for this kind of thing. But it does tell us exactly what happened and points us at the right target." Audio Log #7: "I'm worried about where our guns ended up. I mean, the CPD is using the CtOS itself to track the chips in these things -- with Blume's help, no less. What happens if these "fixers" expose what they found. Shit... what if they fuck with the data? We got some solid busts, but we need to abandon this operation." DUCKY "G1GG1L3S" EPSTEINDucky "G1gg1L3s" Epstein is a character in Watch Dogs. He is an unemployed hacker who was affiliated with DedSec. He is diagnosed with an overactive bladder. During the events of Watch Dogs, an individual from DedSec tasked Aiden Pearce with downloading a virus to Epstein's computer after completing all of their QR Codes puzzles. Players can also find various audio logs from him. There are eight audio logs in total, can be found through the analysis of the first 8 QR codes. Audio Log #1: "Alright, here's what I know. My Blume leak, Angela, she's an engineer -- close to the top. As close as an engineer can get, anyway. I'm going to see if my source checks out, but this is what I've been waiting for. Blume with its pants down and I'll be able to take credit for the leak. I haven't told the rest of DedSec yet. Call me selfish, but this is my find. They'll have to put me on the DedSec council, right? If there really is one. Audio Log #2: "Guess what -- the DedSec council? Real. I got called into a chat with six of them. I don't know how they found out, but I hope you're not posting anything I've told you. These people are fucking scary, man. It's like talking to college professors, only more paranoid and condescending. I don't think I'm going to get an invite. Still, they're keeping me on it for now so we don't spook my contact. They're expecting proof, so I'm going to have to push her. Audio Log #3: "As proof, my leak sent me this old audio in the Blume system. This is Raymond Kenney:" "Let's pick a name at random... Ms. Green here currently has two outstanding loans. One for a motorcycle and one for a boob job. She hasn't had time for the motorcycle because the boob job's had a complication. The photos in her private hospital file show a major infection on one of her nipples -- you know what, I'm going to do Ms. Green a favor here and corrupt her CtOS file. You understand now? This is only the beginning, kids." Audio Log #4: "As soon as I mentioned Ray Kenney, the DedSec council became real friendly. They invited me to attend an online pow-wow with about 30 other people. I think the ones with "Dave" in their handles are the Council. The Daves debriefed us on a lot of recent DedSec events - the mischief with the bridges, the leaks on those Chicago judges, and the media website hacks. The public stuff. They call it "troop building." There's a lot more of it coming soon. The Daves have invited me to a private meeting. Shit, I need to get my nerves under control. Audio Log #5: "The "profiling" system in cTOS, what Ray Kenney was working on -- DedSec wants it, and I think they want me to get it for them. They say with access to a tool that powerful, we can preemptively strike anyone targeting us. But if we use Blume's tool, doesn't that make us just like them? Another problem -- I haven't told the Daves yet, but my Blume contact's gone silent. Fuck, I was so close." Audio Log #6: "The council haaaates Defalt. They don't want people with public images, even if the image is a giant rat mask. They stay anonymous for a reason, right. He wanted to be Council, they said no, then urns on them. Steals their imagery and ideas for his own marketing. He cheapens their message. They say he's dangerous because he's "in it for the lulz," and he's got money to fund his own attacks." Audio Log #7: "One of our fellow members, "Badboy17" brought an appeal to the council this week. The vigilante on the news -- Badboy knows him personally. This guy's been causing Blume a major headache. Walking right into their control centers, and getting away without a trace. But he's in some kind of trouble. Something with his family. They took it to private chat, but I wouldn't be surprised if we end up working with this guy." Audio Log #8: "The Council noticed Badboy snooping around in some directories he wasn't supposed to be in today. He copied over some of our more dangerous Ctos exploits. Normally, he'd get an expulsion, or at least a big slap on the wrist, but we want to see where he goes -- so they're letting it happen. They've even opened some doors. As long as Badboy's friend is using these things against Blume, we benefit, right?" DEDSECDedSec is a secret hacking collective featured in the Watch Dogs series. They have a worldwide presence and millions of followers, with their goal being to expose the corruption in the common world, including large corporations. There are eight audio Logs in total, can be found through the analysis of the last 8 QR codes. Audio Log #1: "Do you ever find yourself staring out the window wondering why 2.7 million people scurry from point A to point B, never even realizing that there is a point C? People no longer seek information because they're filled to capacity. Overloaded. Take a look around out there. Look at all the billboards and monitors. How much Blume do you see? Do you think there will be more or less when the next CTOS goes live? Keep looking for point C and we'll keep talking." Audio Log #2: "Did you vote this year? If the answer is "no," change that answer to "yes," because a vote and a non-vote are exactly the same. Every one of you voted for the same candidate because they all work for the same system. That system has not changed in the past fifty years. Whether you want to wait in a line to stamp "I participated" on a piece of paper or you want to ignore the whole process, the system continues unfazed and uncaring. But it is NOT unstoppable. To do it -- you're going to have to do more than just choose a name. DedSec can help." Audio Log #3: "Everything that makes your life easier consists of the same basic materials. The planet will soon run out of these materials. We've already exhausted over half our supply in the last 100 years and production is only increasing. Governments are already waging wars, overt and shadow, to control those final building blocks, but who will end up with the most toys? Who really funds those wars? Who is on the receiving end of every favor owed? The answer is easy. Take your phone out of your pocket and look at the logo." Audio Log #4: "We loved your new profile pic. That's a great haircut. Congratulations on the new job. A 25% raise? Fantastic. You deserved that widescreen TV. We just saw your status change, we're so happy you found your soulmate. Your kid is growing up so fast, she walks to school all by herself. That intersection in the picture behind her, we know that place. It's a safe neighborhood. You don't even need to lock your door. Wake up. Stop authoring your own tragedy." Audio Log #5: "Why do WE hide behind our masks? Why do they hide behind their masks? Drop their corporate lawyers and government connections and we'll drop our hoods. They point at DedSec, label us the boogeyman while they root through your closet. We're not asking you to be friends. We're asking you to turn on the flashlight. Take a look under the bed. Because monsters are real and you're looking in the wrong place." Audio Log #6: "You want to make a statement. You want to be a part of the change. But I don't know how, you say. I am powerless. I am weak. I am afraid. We answer: one person can disrupt an entire system simply by standing still. One person can spread a message to a thousand more simply by choosing to speak. Stand beside others, and you become a wall. Shout along with others, and you become a bullhorn. If we push together, we can topple their towers." Audio Log #7: "We can see you. There are currently three different cameras recording you. One of them is recording for the Chicago Police department. One of them feeds directly into Blume through the CTOS. The other one, we're not even sure where it goes. You can try to avoid them, but there are over twenty thousand more in Chicago alone. Your privacy is gone." Audio Log #8: "How long would it take to subvert the entire CTOS? To shut down every camera, monitoring system, emergency response, transit, commerce, and communication. How long to cripple this entire "safe" city? It would take us a mere thirty seconds. Now imagine if we were to rise up as civilians, to challenge the powers that be. How long would it take them to shut us down when they control the power switch? Your tax dollars have paid for your own muzzle and cage." Bad Blood In Bad Blood, three additional Audio Logs can be found through the Council of Daves investigation. The first and third logs are spoken by a disgruntled member of the Daves, while the second log is spoken by Clara Lille. DedSec X01: "DedSec must reboot. It is a shackled army, ready to fight. It is the voice of the people, muzzled by its own leaders. That's right. DedSec has leaders, despite their denial. But they would rather stroke their own egos through social media than bring about social change. So blood must be drawn. Every war begins with a tragedy..." DedSec X02: "I've been working with another hacker lately. He knows the game, but his ego is too much. And he likes to keep his identity hidden behind a mask when he's in public. Like he's got to wear the silly costume or he's somehow exposed. He scares me sometimes. His ideas are violent. He angers easily. He's a genius, but he can be like a child. On one hand I think he could help me find the Bunker, but on the other, I fear what he'd do with it. He's ready to meet the Daves, but I don't know if the Daves are ready for Defalt. I don't know if anybody is ready for Defalt." DedSec X03: "So it's pretty clear to me now that the other Daves are going to waste the potential of what we've created here. In order to live up to our ideals, our purpose, they've left me one option - I need to remove them. Once we take our proper place ... once we're recognized as the ones who actually made a difference, who stood up against the one-percenter bullshit - people will understand why I had to do this. My brothers die for a cause they seem to have forgotten, but that cause lives on ... and grows stronger." MALCOLM DEODATOHe was hired prior to the events of Watch Dogs by the Blume Corporation. He and his team were responsible of executing many orders from the Chicago South Club, though he was unaware of that. His tasks include using the Bellwether code to arrange the re-election of Donovan Rushmore, the divorce of him and his wife and the murder of Rose Washington. He then knew about the Blume Corporation affiliation with Dermot "Lucky" Quinn. Realizing his mistakes, he said that he could stay away from this, but he cannot because "no one can escape the ctOS". There are eight audio Logs in total, can be found through the story mode.
Audio Log #1: "I got it! I got the job! Which means yours truly has a parking spot outside of Blume's "X" Labs. Billions of dollars, mad science, ok -- maybe just regular science, but still man, who knows what kind of wild shit I'll get to work on. I still have to sign a mountain of confidentiality paperwork, but I will tell you all about it when I am done! YES. Yes yes yes yes yes." Audio Log #2: "Okay people, you ready for this? Frickin' mind control. Seriously, man. That's why they hired a social psychologist, hello. OK, OK, so there's no badass laser or satellite, at least not that I know of, but it's still pretty fucking cool, right? The CtOS - it's collecting information on like... like everybody. And we get to play with it. Aw shit -- gotta go. More soon." Audio Log #3: "Well, fuck. My assignment -- elect Mayor Rushmore. I'm not kidding. For Blume's profitability, we have to make sure the weasel gets elected. So, all aboard the Rushmore train. Choo choo. Fuck. Just listen to this asshat:" "If you're like me -- you're fed up with the blowhards and their hyperbole! We are at a crossroads here, with one path leading into economic and social ruin and the other, if you'll just walk with me, leading into a new age for Chicagoans." Audio Log #4: "Well, people did you vote for Rushmore? If you did, I'm sorry. That was me. This is some heavy, heavy shit. We knew the numbers we'd need for a win when we targeted the population. The Ctos worked out what specific messages people needed to hear and where to display them. Not subliminal, right there in your face. Hell, even I voted for him -- of course, management mandated it." Audio Log #5: "Okay, okay, okay, I am stuck right in the middle of a conspiracy-theorist's wet dream. And, to be honest, there's no place I'd rather be. This is fucking awesome. My new job - get inside Rushmore's head. Look, we got the funding we needed, so now there's this new deal. I don't know who is paying, but now, we're going to mess with the Mayor himself. I've got a team of brainstorms at 3:00 and I have some nasty, nasty ideas." Audio Log #6: "So we used the Ctos to media blitz the mayor. Wherever his eyes landed, we played on his fucking paranoia -- showed him stories of cheating wives and how to spot liars. Taught him all the warning signs and then made them seem real. Did it work? Well... the Bellwether predicted he'd file for divorce within two months. And do you know how long it took? Twenty days. Fuck. Listen to this message, it's... it's epic:" "Enjoying your "ladies night out?" I hope he's worth it. It gave me time to burn our wedding album. Stay out as late as you like, whore, most of your shit is safe in the garbage out front. Call me back when you've lawyered up." "Holy shiiiit. Yeah, yeah, yeah... WE did that!" Audio Log #7: "Okay, we've got a new task. Yeah, just call me Cupid. They want to see if the Ctos can hook our buddy Rushmore up with a booty call. Actually, it's not that simple, you see, they want us to manufacture a relationship for him. And I think it's working, listen to this:" "Somehow we keep bumping into each other and -- this is awkward -- but I can't stop thinking about you. Feels like fate is bringing us together, right? Maybe I'm just being silly." Audio Log #8: "What the fuck have I done? I -- I can't believe it worked. Oh, shit shit shit. I had no idea they'd push it this far. This shit isn't what I signed up for -- deals with the Chicago South Club? I can't even run... I can't escape the Ctos. Nobody can." ⭐ Location: Worldwide (headquartered in Silicon Valley, San Francisco) ⭐ Leader: Charlotte Gardner (CCO & VP) ⭐ Former leader(s): Skye Larson (CTO) & Dušan Nemec (CTO) ⭐ Type: Communications Technology Company ⭐ Enemies: DedSec, Aiden Pearce Blume Corporation is a technology company that specializes in communications technologies, information technologies as well as security technologies. It is the company that developed and owns CTOS as well as its iterations, and is responsible for their operation, maintenance and advancement. Through CTOS as well as its iterations, Blume Corporation has a borderline monopolistic power on digital information systems across the globe, as well as its subsidiaries and utilities. Self-described as the "world's foremost innovator of high-tech, high-performance communications and security technology", Blume Corporation specializes in everything from wireless phone operating systems, home computers, to digital imaging processors, and linked-by-network security systems. They take great pride in the fact that they helped create most of the markets they now dominate. Blume stands poised to reshape the way people think about Information Security Architecture (ISA). Blume had its own security contractors in Watch Dogs to protect the company's major interests like CTOS Control Centers, Blume property, etc. These security members could be identified with CTOS signs on their gray uniforms. They were notorious for various criminal records of its members. In Watch Dogs 2, Blume hires Umeni Security Corps to provide security to their facilities. It is unknown if this was only for the Bay Area or if Umeni Security Corps were also contracted to replace Blume facilities in Chicago after the events of Watch Dogs. Blume made many sketchy deals with organizations by giving them access to CTOS data and related technology like the Bellwether system, in exchange for funding and information. This in turn created one of the largest corrupt corporate monopolies that even included U.S. government agencies such as the FBI. As seen in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Blume Corporation sent a corporate sales email to Abstergo Entertainment's CCO, Olivier Garneau, in which they advertised ctOS, and offered the possibility of having a localized system installed at Abstergo Entertainment's Montreal facility. ⭐ Location(s): Worldwide (prominent in Chicago, San Francisco and London) ⭐ Leader(s): Council of Daves (Chicago Branch), Bagley (London Branch) ⭐ Former leader(s): Sabine Brandt (London branch) (defected) ⭐ Type: Hacktivist Collective ⭐ Enemies: Police, FBI, Umeni-Zulu, Prime_Eight, Blume, Clan Kelley, Albion, Zero Day, SIRS, New Dawn, HAUM, Numerous street gangs, Businesses, Hacktivism, Intelligence gathering, Technology R&D, Corporate espionage, Data theft, Crypto-anarchism, Libertarianism, Neo-Luddism Known Member(s): ⭐ Ducky Epstein ⭐ Marcus Holloway ⭐ Wrench ⭐ Sitara Dhawan ⭐ Josh Sauchak ⭐ Aiden Pearce (Legion only) ⭐ Connie Robinson ⭐ Mina ⭐ Darcy ⭐ Anyone the player recruits Known Former Member(s): ⭐ Chicago Branch ⭐ Clara Lille (deceased) ⭐ San Francisco Branch ⭐ Horatio Carlin (deceased) London Branch: ⭐ Dalton Wolfe (deceased) ⭐ Sabine Brandt (defected) ⭐ Other members of the original DedSec in London (deceased) Houston Branch: ⭐ Heath Bolton (formerly) History: DedSec is a notorious hacking collective that operates in cities all around the world. The group itself is opposed to the implementation and use of the CTOS and has the objective of proving that the system is flawed and unnecessary. The group's members hack into various CTOS systems for destructive purposes in order to highlight its weaknesses and vulnerabilities. It was revealed by Clara (under the identity "BadBoy17") that DedSec has an aggressive side, where they unsuccessfully tried to attack a CTOS center in The Loop, and as a result of that failed attack, Blume added more armed guards to the center. This is given further credibility during the end credits of Watch Dogs, where a broadcast states they won't tolerate being ignored any longer. In Watch Dogs 2, where in one audio log left by another of their members, Horatio Carlin, he states that "if there was a bar ranging from "activist" to "anarchist", [they]'d probably fill the whole damn thing"; additionally, that same audio log implies there are multiple branches of DedSec, as Horatio stated that he ran a few ops with the Council of Daves to see what worked for them and try to adapt it to the members of the Bay Area, before realising that the Chicago and San Francisco Branches of DedSec couldn't be more different from each other. One way in which DedSec have voiced their opinion and made their presence known to the public was through their seizure of the CTOS' official website. The website was seized and then subsequently transformed into an ambiguous advertisement page. The page was turned entirely black and covered with a DedSec logo, formed from ASCII characters. Similarly, tagging and graffiti has been sprayed onto a number of CTOS advertisement media and other Chicago signposts. Audio logs left by one of their members, G1gg1L3s, reveals that the Chicago branch of DedSec's leaders are referred to as the "Council of Daves", or just "the Daves", because they all include the name Dave in their usernames in online communications. Events Of Watch Dogs 1: DedSec can trace their origins back to Umeni which at one point sent many of their engineers to prison, subsequently, after being released many of them went on to form the group and fight against corporate injustice and corruption. At some point in the game, they contact Aiden Pearce to target many corrupt Umeni executives to have their revenge and later on contact him again to infiltrate Danny SoSueMe's mansion to recover data stolen from them. They also tip him on a shipment containing a Biometric Assault Rifle and to give him the whereabouts of two high ranking Chicago South Club members for him to dispose of on behalf of the group. However, Aiden is not affiliated with DedSec, though he does have dealings with some of its members. Following Clara Lille's death, DedSec declares her a martyr and promises a reckoning. Near the end of the game, they contact Aiden again before he is about to take control of the CTOS satellite to ask for 30 seconds to search through the system and collect all data necessary that could help them in their quest for justice. However, Aiden refused to do so and Dedsec warned that they will not forget this. It is revealed on one of their broadcasts during the credits that they are tired of people ignoring their warnings, stating their reputation has been damaged and that they had been attacked by other hackers such as Defalt, declaring a digital war upon Blume and the citizens of Chicago. Despite the fact that Aiden was responsible for releasing the blackmail to the public, DedSec claims credit for this action. Watch Dogs - Bad Blood: During the "Council of Daves" investigations, it is revealed that one of DedSec's leaders had grown tired of the other Daves wanting more to "stroke their own egos through social media than bring real change" and wished to further militarize DedSec. The rogue Dave lured Dave04 and DaveZB over to the Ambrose Theatre, Defalt's old haunt, and murdered them, then coded a video of Defalt's meeting with the Daves into a QR square on the Pawnee Dam, as a message to the other Daves, to implicate Defalt. He then arranged a meeting with Daveftp, Dave Capisano and Dave_of_Spades at a construction site in Pawnee, then sent Fixers in to ambush them. However, Raymond "T-Bone" Kenney learned of his treachery in time and arrived to protect the Daves from the waves of fixers sent to kill them. The Daves pledged their gratitude to Kenney, who declared that they now owed him a favor. It is unknown what became of the treacherous Dave. Events Of Watch Dogs 2: There are at least one million followers/members of DedSec in San Francisco, California. Their belief is technology should not be used to control people; as a result, they are actively fighting against the San Francisco CTOS, spamming messages about themselves and their cause. Unlike the Chicago chapter, the San Francisco DedSec lacks a militaristic side and focuses more on nonlethal pranks and muckraking-in particularly, advertising their app, which allows their fans to lend their computers' processing power to their operations. The protagonist, Marcus Holloway, is a member of DedSec. One of the goals in the game is to get more people from the area to download their app and join them, so that DedSec can gain more resources and processing power for bigger hacks; such can be done by doing certain missions to get the follower count up. Events Of Legion: Up until Operation Westminster, DedSec operated away from the public eye, as they had always done in the past. However, the general society turned against DedSec when Zero Day, a zealous neo-luddite hacker cell which splintered off from London's Branch of DedSec, set off bombs across London, killing thousands, and DedSec was framed for the attacks. Following this, DedSec was declared a terrorist organization and the British government contracted Albion, a private military firm, to track down and kill DedSec members. Meanwhile, DedSec is attempting to clear their name while seeking justice for ordinary people, by fighting the various factions trying to rise to power in London, including Albion and Clan Kelley. Audio Logs: Eight Audio Logs can be found in Watch Dogs which reveal a bit more about DedSec's past. They can be obtained through the QR Codes investigations. Your tax dollars have paid for your own muzzle and cage." Bad Blood: In Bad Blood, three additional Audio Logs can be found through the Council of Daves investigation. Once we take our proper place ... once we're recognized as the ones who actually made a difference, who stood up against the one-percenter bullsh*t - people will understand why I had to do this. My brothers die for a cause they seem to have forgotten, but that cause lives on ... and grows stronger." |
