Step 3: Files Extraction: Extract the archived mod file. Then choose the correct folder you need to use. This is the most important step. The correct folder contains the “ModInfo.xml” file. For example: \Downloads\ExampleModFolder1\ExampleModFolder2\ExampleModFolder3\ModInfo.xml The correct folder is “ExampleModFolder3”. Copy the “ExampleModFolder3” folder and paste it into the “Mods” folder. Step 4: Run The Game To Test: Just run the game after doing the above 3 steps correctly. You can now enjoy the mods. Alpha 20.4 b42: Mods are now loaded from <UserDataFolder>/Mods (i.e. the folder that also stores saves, e.g. on Windows %APPDATA%/7DaysToDie/Mods) in addition to <game folder>/Mods. In a future build this will change to only load from that new location so no data is written/changed in the program folder at any time. Important: Some mods require different installation methods. Here is a comprehensive summary of the history and key points for each biome that will hopefully help you plan your survival like it has helped me. Introduction: In game, there are currently six different types of biomes within the world. Of which each has its own points of interests, pros & cons. ⭐ Burnt Forest ⭐ Desert ⭐ Forest ⭐ Nuclear Fallout Zone ⭐ Snowy Forest ⭐ Wasteland Burnt Forest Biome: Hunting animals here for raw meat and animal hide is beneficial due to ease of seeing your prey. The draw back is Zombies that are burn victims can set you on fire as well as small piles of debris still smoldering. Something to keep an eye out for is the random flare ups of flames as animals cross smoldering piles of debris. As of A19, one should also be on the lookout for land mines that blend in with the ground. The Burnt Forest is also known as the "Dead Forest". When the 'third world war' started and the virus started to spread among humanity, everything went down hill and a wildfire destroyed this forest, along with everyone inside it resulting in Burn Victim Zombies. This Biome is now nothing but destroyed buildings and burnt trees. Destroying ember piles yields Wood and Coal for crafting and as a fuel source. There is very little wildlife here and very few buildings, making this a very poor spawn point. The environment, when it rains, can quickly lower the players body heat. Take caution by carrying clothes. Or momentarily hopping over to a different biome to collect Plant Fibers. You can then craft clothes. It may take a while to warm up though. The environment is very hot, particularly in the afternoon sun, although not as hot as the Desert. Alpha 13's temperature system can lead to the player overheating quickly. Ember Piles, Small Stones and Birds Nests litter the ground and are easy to spot due to the vast reaches of scorched earth. Birds Nests are a good source of Eggs and Feathers. To stay cool, make sure you are adequately hydrated. Clothes such as Cowboy Hats and Bandanas also have a cooling effect. Most of the buildings in this Biome are partially destroyed and a player can find mostly burnt and destroyed Houses with normal loot inside them. There's also a small village (on the Navezgane Map) in the middle of the Biome with destroyed houses. This can be found by following the Apache St. On a Random Gen map, there aren't usually cities in these Biomes , but it is possible. New Burnt POI's were introduced to the RWG world, so now things blend together better. Players should use extra caution when within the Burnt Forest as there are rarely any intact buildings to reside in especially at night when zombies are more aggressive. Occasionally, a player can hear a sound of cracking branches in the background. It is possible for Infected Police Officers to spawn in this biome, this makes the biome a poor spawn and particularly unsuitable for new players. Desert Biome: The desert biome is found in the south-east corner of the Navezgane map. It's an immense sprawl of terrain completely covered in sand with patches of clay. This Biome only has rabbits as living creatures, and water is scarce. Unlike other biomes, the sand goes all the way down to bedrock, rather than turning to stone at some point. It is possible to mine sand, iron ore, and oil and more importantly, nitrate, which mixed with coal can allow the player to produce gun powder which serves to create ammo for your firearms. With the temperature survival system that A13 introduced, starting off in the Desert can be rough. The temperatures get very hot during the day and cold at night. It is important to note that Yucca Juice now has a cooling effect that will keep you cool in the Desert. Crafting a Plant Fiber Hat or trying to find a Cowboy Hat in loot will also help you stay cool in the hot environment. Food and drink, however, are plentiful, since you can obtain food resources such as the Yucca Fruit from Saguaros (tall cactus) and Yucca Juice from Yucca Plants. Other common resources include shrubs, prickly pears, brown grass and aged wood. Medical resources can also be obtained here, since Aloe Plants are plentiful and can be used to create Aloe Cream or First Aid Bandages. Wood is harder to come by in the desert because of the lack of trees. There are also plenty of small scrapyards where many destroyed cars can be found among the cacti, as well as corpses. Bags such as the duffel bag also seem to spawn more often in large groups of cacti. Desert caves are a place to find the Apache Artifact Chest. Even though deserts are known for being huge isolated places, there are many locations and buildings in the desert. There are quite a few gas stations, abandoned campsites, water towers and barns. If the player follows roads they might be able to find Ghost Towns. These towns are "Wild Wild West" themed and are completely overrun by zombies, but they contain plentiful loot. The player may also be able to find shops such as gun stores. As of Alpha 16 a city has been added to the desert which in turn has made the desert a much more viable living place and a destination worth visiting and surviving in. In Navezgame the desert holds an auto-shop and a hotel. Nuclear Fallout Biome: The nuclear fallout zones are dead places completely covered with high levels of radiation caused by the bombs that were dropped when the War and subsequently, the apocalypse began. Massive amounts of radiation spread out and covered almost everywhere around the country making these places completely lethal to whoever decides to walk into them without a radiation suit. They serve as a barrier to keep players within the playable parts of Navezgane. Players that walk into the biome will start to lose health and will eventually die if they do not leave the biome. These areas can be easily identified by their distinct green color. Zombies seem not to be affected by the radiation, though any living animals that wander into it will die within seconds. It's important to note that wearing a hazmat suit will not prevent you from dying via the radiation. It only serves to slow down the exposure to the radiation. Snowy Forest Biome: The snowy forest is a dense, and cold forest completely covered with snow. It is the home of the Frozen Lumberjack, a tough zombie, which when looted has a chance of having rare items. Points of Interest in this biome include an army recon campsites and sawmills. Dangers in this zone include the low visibility and low temperatures. Fog, snow and dense pine forest can obscure the player's vision, sometimes leading to unexpected attacks from wildlife and the infected. This area also has the lowest temperatures of all biomes, making it more difficult to survive during early game phases, when resources and player-statistics are low. There are plenty of small stones on the ground and blueberry bushes also grow abundantly in this biome, which makes for easy starter food. The player can also use some of the abundant snow to make bottled murky water which can be boiled down using a fire pit to be clean & drinkable. When spawning in this biome, as mentioned before, the character must take rapid measures against the cold; plant fiber or cloth clothes can help keep the player warm. A cave to protect the player from the elements, as well as a warm campfire, can also help. This area makes for a poor biome to live in until a survivor has adequate resources to withstand the extreme temperature. Lumberjacks used to populate this biome, therefore it's common to find sawmills where lots of wood can be found. As in all biomes, it is possible to find cities, stores, and other POI's in this biome. The only Points of Interest unique to the snowy forest area are: ⭐ Cabins ⭐ Ski Lodge ⭐ Sawmill Forest Biome: The forest biome is home to many wildlife such as pigs, stags, bears, and rabbits. The Forest is filled with big trees and the terrain is mostly hilly. The ground is made of grass and is covered by bushes and flowers, as biomes go, forests appear to be the place the most untouched by the nuclear war and zombie outbreaks. It's probably one of the best biomes to start out in, because of the stable climate. Temperatures don't get extreme in either direction in this biome, which makes survival easier. Water is usually abundant as well. This biome hosts plants such as the goldenrod flower and chrysanthemum. These can be boiled with water to make goldenrod tea and red tea, each of which have unique benefits to a character's statistics. There are plenty of boulders and large stone formations, which give small stones and raw iron if broken down. Cotton plants can be found in abundance and are used to make cloth fragments. Forests are plentiful in resources because of the many Points of Interest that can be found there. For instance, there is a high chance of finding rural areas in this biome. Gas stations are also very common, and if the character is lucky they might stumble upon a shop. There are also 3 POI's only found in Navezgane: ⭐ Diersville ⭐ The Farm ⭐ The Church Wasteland Biome: The Wasteland is a lifeless biome which holds all the industrial structures and cities. Since the apocalypse began, the wasteland has become the epicenter of the biggest zombie hordes and masses. The ground block of the wasteland is mostly made of destroyed stone. Above ground, players may find loads of amounts of cinder blocks and scrap metal blocks, making the wasteland perfect for obtaining scrap iron. However, the wasteland surface is riddled with land mines all consisting of variations of tin land mines and the occasional cooking pot trap as well. The wasteland is full of destroyed structures which still have containers such as coolers and lockers. The ground is very hilly and contains numerous counts of junk. It is is very foggy, especially during the morning and at night. The biome also tends to spawn a considerably large amount of feral zombies. Plus, irradiated zombies and rattlesnakes are more common here. Wolves tend to spawn in huge packs in the wasteland as well. In terms of loot, the wasteland is the richest of them all, thanks to its central city which holds an abundance of valuable loot in the game. The city in this biome has very high zombie spawn rates and can be very tedious to loot. Newer players should be extra cautious, possibly postponing looting in this biome until they are better prepared; zombies appear in great numbers either wandering, or sleeping in destroyed buildings. Additionally, players also face the hazard of hostile animals roaming around. Even more dangerous, the terrain off the road tends to conceal land mines. All aforementioned dangers may easily overwhelm players unfamiliar to the terrain. Should a player choose to loot without sufficient equipment, it is highly recommended they loot silently, and to avoid any zombie animals they are unprepared to fight, particularly dogs and bears. Ideally, players should pack medkits/first aid bandages and ranged weapons that can kill dogs effectively, and avoid this biome at night on higher difficulties. As of Alpha 19, enemies spawn endlessly, and killing them causes them to respawn in increasing numbers, even spawning numerous ferals and zombie animals. Due to the increase to the already-large amount of special infected, zombie dogs, and higher density of zombies, the Wasteland is end-game territory, and players are wise to avoid lingering in the wasteland unnecessarily. In Navezgane, the wasteland is significantly harder than a randomly generated one, as there is a lack of decent buildings without too many zombies to deal with to take shelter in when caught out at night, therefore, a minibike or truck is recommended for scavenging trips in Navezgane's wasteland. The main POI in the wastelands are its central cities which hold very valuable loot like ammunition, gun parts, weapons and armor. There are plenty of gun safes and munitions boxes. In Navezgane there are 2 of these as well as Gravestown, a derelict building which contains two desk safes and a junkyard. Dig Deep: Simply dig down till you hit bedrock. You’ll know when you reach the bottom by the tan and blue looking floor. It will also make a distinct sound when you hit it like when you hit land claimed territory. The easiest method to do this is with an auger and just keep it aimed straight down. Also bring plenty of wood for frames or ladders to get yourself back out. Dirty Larry: For this achievement you will need the .44 Magnum and enough magnum rounds to kill 44 zombies. It’s pretty easy to get if you take your time and aim for the head. Evil Knievel: Most people probably get this one by accident, all you need to do is break your leg. A sprain will not do as it must be broken. If you sprain your leg, falling again should break it and grant you the achievement. On Top Of The World: Similar to the Dig Deep achievement, for this one all you need to do is reach the top of the game world. There is an invisible ceiling that you can get to where you can’t build or place any blocks to get higher. Once you reach this point the achievement should unlock. The easiest way to do this is bring a stack of about 200-300 wood frames. How many you actually need will depend on your altitude when you start. Place a wood frame on the ground, jump on top of it and then keep jumping straight up while placing more frames below you. The Polar Bare Club: This is probably the trickiest of the hidden achievements but not that hard. What you need to do is get your temperature down to 0 while you are totally naked and 100% wet. The easiest way to do this is find a snow biome that has a high elevation. The higher your altitude the colder it gets. Find a body of water that is deep enough for you to fully submerge in. Then strip down of all clothing, sit in the water and wait for your temperature to drop. To speed up this process you can wear clothing with a negative thermal value and drink either red tea or Yucca juice as both will help lower your temperature. NOTE: Getting your temperature down this low is dangerous and could result in death, be prepared to put warm clothing on and sit next to a fire as soon as you get the achievement. |
