The Book of Joseph was a pre-order bonus item that was available to the first 2000 persons who ordered the Mondo Edition of Far Cry 5. The book serves as a short autobiography of Joseph Seed and the official history of the Project at Eden's Gate. Table of Contents:
The messenger is often attacked for delivering bad news You will hear a great deal about me: People will tell you that I am a liar, a cheat, a conman A mad man, and even a murderer. People will tell you anything and everything Because I am the bearer of bad news, Because I am the messenger. I am the one who must warn you of the ending of this world And gather the chosen ones who will build the next world. If you want to live, you need to ignore the slander. You need to believe me. You need to follow me. - Joseph Seed Part One: “Bless the name of those who Have dealt you blows. Be grateful to those who Have caused you harm. For it is these sufferings that Have led you to me.” - Sermon from the Project at Eden’s Gate. If a person had been walking down the poorly maintained road out front of the Seed’s house on that afternoon in June and felt the strange urge to glance over, they would have witnessed a bizarre sight. They would have seen a man dressed in black pants and white undershirt, frothing with anger, brandishing a comic book in one hand and a bible in the other at his son, a child of about ten. But no one had been down this road in the poor suburb of Rome, Georgia, in a long time. Not ice cream trucks, not social services cars, not even police patrols. In any case. In these parts, the people kept their noses out of other people’s business, even when that business took place on a porch out in the open. The father thrashed his arms furiously while the boy, young Joseph Seed stood with his head bowed, contrite and seemingly fixated on the floorboards. If he had looked up, he would have seen the kaleidoscopic colors of an old issue of Spiderman flashing by, alternating with the smooth black leather of his father’s Bible and the ruddy face of the father himself. He would have seen the grey teeth - few and far between - of Old Man Seed, as the locals called him, or Old Man Seed behind his back, as Joseph’s big brother Jacob had snickered to him. Dental care was not a priority in the Seed household. The money was needed for other things. So, his father’s teeth always reminded Joseph of rocky crags that pirate ships washed up on in picture books at the library. The priority in the Seed household, as everyone in the neighborhood knew, was cheap whiskey, which the father drank from dawn till dusk. The more whiskey that went in, the more Bible verses that came out - and the more often his children felt the switch. The cause of the paternal fury was simple; comics were forbidden in the home - comics and books, records, magazines, radio, and television. Only the Bible was allowed. Once, when the entire elementary school went to see Gone with the Wind at an old theatre in town, Joseph’s father had leapt up in rage like a drunken jack-in-the-box, and before stunned teachers and students, launched into a rambling sermon condemning the sins of Hollywood, insisting this Babylon had long perverted the most fragile of minds and was responsible for the downfall of all America, with Joseph under one arm and Jacob under the other, he stormed out of the room still hurling curses. This time, when they arrived home, he beat Jacob only, because he was the eldest and thus responsible for his younger brother. At least the brothers had had time to see Atlanta burn. Thus, when Old Man Seed stood on the porch and began sliding off his belt, the child simply removed his T-shirt, folded it carefully, and bent over to offer his pale, delicate back to the worn-out strap of leather. Joseph’s head was turned toward the well maintained - at least by local standards - house of a quiet, gentle widow. He considered it a blessing, if a small one. Facing the other way, he would have had to look at the other neighbor’s house, which even by local standards was so run-down as to be hideous to the eye. When they were younger, the widow used to bake them cakes, probably out of pity for them. The children’s mother wasn’t exactly an impressive chef. She wasn’t exactly a loving mother either. But the widow didn’t bake much of anything anymore now that she was dying of cancer. Instead, she spent her days in her porch rocking chair, rain or shine, tottering gently. Jacob and Joseph argued over whether the groaning came from the wooden rocking chair or the old woman. Sometimes the widow’s daughter would stop by, just long enough to steal her mother’s medication and barter it for heroin. She never stayed long; prospects in the town were so few that not even junkies wanted to live there. On this particular day, the young Joseph, age Seven, received 25 lashes. It was the price to pay for having read about the adventures of a man in tights bitten by a radioactive spider. He bore his punishment and hardly ever cried. You may be wondering who I am to know so much about the banal misery of this family living in a poor white neighborhood like so many others. I am Joseph Seed. And if you want to know why I remember that scorching day in June so clearly, it’s because that was the first day the Voice spoke to me. Part Two: “He who ignores the low flight of the bird, the darkening of skies, and The taste of iron in the blowing wind deserves the thunder and lighting that will rain down upon him.” - Sermon from the Project at Eden’s Gate. Many people claim to hear divine voices. There are numerous lunatics out there, and if it’s not the voice of angels speaking to them, it’s aliens, George Washington, or John Lennon. Every busy street corner has a chosen one, a mad prophet. They announce that “THE END IS NIGH!”, that humanity has been irredeemably condemned for its sins and misdeeds, ordering you to repent and damning you to the eternal flames of hell. They frighten children and inspire a vague sense of pity in adults - especially when you catch a whiff of their body odor as you pass. Yet they claim to be heralds of the holy word. Why should I be any more believable? How am I any different? Probably because I’m not here to talk about saving your soul. I’m here to talk about life before death. I’m only here to help you survive the impending chaos. Don’t get me wrong - the world is coming to an end. It's destruction has been foretold. And as glassy-eyed as your street-corner proselytizer is, as confused as his spirit is. I can’t help but respect him for understanding better than anyone else that the clock is ticking. But whereas he only senses a murky feeling of doom deep in his bones. I know it beyond a shadow of a doubt. I know it because the Voice told me so. The Voice of the Creator. I am here to tell you that God has tired of humanity’s behavior and intends to take back everything He has created. Man’s pride has made him so forgetful and ungrateful, that God intends to start over. For we have learned nothing. We have left our filth on everything, soiled it all. And as insignificant as we are, our perversion, our duplicity, the indescribably cruelty we inflict on each other has fanned the flames of His anger. How can we still doubt the approaching deluge that will wash us all away? We may have been created in His image, but we have reinvented ourselves, adding make-up, and contorting ourselves into strange shapes to become ghastly creatures. We who were once so pure, who lived in Paradise, now wallow in muck day and night, entombing our original goodness under a thick layer of filth. We have enraged our God and we will pay the price sooner than we think. Look at what the world has become. Look at how some bask in the opulence while others drown in misery. Witness the vicious cycle of conflicts spiraling out of control, of crusades driven by the greed of men. Greed - that is what drives mankind. In man’s endless quest, a quest that never ends well, those with nothing are worth no more than those with everything. Victims never dream of a more just society, they yearn only to join the caste of the unjust, to tread on the poor in turn. The greed of men destroys every hint: forests, oceans, their fellow man. Men kill, they poison, they corrupt. Men care not whether individuals die on the other side of the world as long as we possess the latest technology: they care not whether the multitudes are trampled upon as long as they can fill their cars with cheap gasoline. In their frenzy for possessions, they mock everything. Nothing is sacred anymore. They dance atop ruins, march through cemeteries parading the still-warm ashes of those who were sacrificed in the flames. In a society where selfishness triumphs, where people can’t see beyond the end of their own noses, where they worship themselves, what becomes of the righteous? What becomes of goodness? Of the humble or those who wander abandoned in this vast wasteland that the world has become? What becomes of those who prefer to understand rather than to possess, to share rather than to keep? They are ridiculed. We scoff at the generous, at those who care for others. We laugh at those who feed the destitute; we mock people who prefer the real world to virtual illusions. We point and laugh, call them weak, simple-minded misfits. We heap insults upon them and beckon them to join the macabre carnival of frenzied consumption. And if they refuse, we become suspicious of them and cast them out. Who else do the FBI and other government agencies persecute these days? Such pariahs are constantly harassed and subjected to the relentless zeal of federal authorities. They are subpoenaed, hunted down, kept tabs on, and humiliated. Sometimes they’re dragged off to prison and driven to madness or suicide. Look deep inside your heart: isn’t this exactly what you’ve always believed too? Are you not a member of this new crop of martyrs, devoured by the invisible beasts of despair and solitude unleashed upon you in the world’s arena? I see that you hesitate to answer, that you do not agree. Your suspicion is understandable. This vice-filled world - a world to which you don’t belong - has so long forced you to hide your true self away, taught you in painful ways to protect yourself, beat down the impulses of your heart, distrust words, distrust others - even distrust yourself. But let me tell you what the Voice told me: The Creator has never turned a blind eye to the distress of the righteous. He has been watching mankind and has seen those who desecrate His word, who desecrate themselves in a race toward material wealth and vainglory. Such sinners have angered Him and it won’t be long until he unleashes his righteous punishment. The wheat will be separated from the chaff. This is the mission bestowed upon me. I must gather those who will be touched by the grace of It’s message and bring them together to form a family. The emptiness you feel inside is a resonant chamber that amplifies the Voice so that you may know It is genuine. What if you could be one of the chosen ones along with others who believed in me? What if you could be one of those whose preserved purity allows you to grasp the divine source of the message that I’m spreading? What if you knew from the instant we met, that I wasn’t just another fool at the crossroads? If you too dream of restoring the world’s original beauty and harmony - if you have the faith and the drive - then join me and you will survive the cataclysm that is upon us. To live again in the Garden of Eden. The way we did before. Part Three: “They quote prophets who were born slaves. They sing the praises of saviors born of the people. But in their arrogance, they will never understand that the messenger is not of their caste.” - Sermon from the Project at Eden’s Gate. When the Voice spoke to me, it had been a long time since I’d heard anything comforting. Father had just taken me and Jacob out of school to home-school us himself. He meant to pass on knowledge more faithful to his convictions, away from evil influences, as he proclaimed to anyone who would listen. Which was no one. I no longer had stories our teachers innocently recounted of the adventures of pious, tightknit, loving families of pioneers who conquered the country by braving all sorts of dangers. If those pioneers had known what would become of their dreams, they most likely would have chosen not to brave anything at all and to slaughter their oxen and burn their covered wagons. But some home-schooling was quite common and perfectly legal in the state of Georgia as long as one of the parents could read and write. Father met both of these criteria. The fact he wasn alcoholic who beat us simply did not concern the authorities. As for the neighbours, they were too busy with their own problems to worry about the fat of Old Man Seed’s boys. It wasn’t that they were heartless — on the contrary, they were good people. But despite their kind nature, they had been hardened by misery. In our town, everyone worked the same job — collecting unemployment. We lived off a patchwork of welfare, food stamps, charity and soup kitchens funded by rich liberals from wealthy suburbs paid for to buy themselves a conscience or so they could brag about it at the dinners they threw at hip Atlanta restaurants. In these parts, everyone had their own cross to bear. Some had more than one, and the worst off had enough to fill a cemetery. Thus, we were alone with our problems, just us, members of a family descended from pioneers who failed to conquer anything but vast nothingness and gained only the right to settle their misery in one place. Amid this emptiness, my sole source of joy was running to the corner gas station at the very end of our street. Our mother would send us there to buy — often on credit — the hot dogs and frozen pizza that formed the bulk of our diet. And whiskey, of course, for our father. The owner was a good man at heart who let me skim through the magazines next to the register, without a word. I would sit alone in a corner, enjoying the cool breeze of the noisy air conditioner and the sound of the radio playing over worn-out speakers. I read and the world disappeared. Sometimes he’d give me a soda, for no reason, without asking for anything in return, as if he weren’t from around here. Later, when I began founding my community and gathering believers, I decided to give him a visit and bring him the message I bore. I wanted to save him the way he saved me. That’s when I learned he had been shot years earlier in a robbery committed by people who couldn’t have been from the neighbourhood — everyone in town knew that the contents of his cash drawer weren’t worth three .38 bullets. May he rest in peace. At least he won’t be around for the horror of the end times. Why did the Voice choose to speak to me on that day in particular? I believed it’s because recently my brother Jacob had begun to clash with our father more and more. We were separated by more than just age. He was also bolder. He was the first one to jump into the polluted reservoirs, the quickest to go adventuring in other neighbourhoods, despite the bands of kids who marked it as their exclusive territory. He was also the one who pinched candy whenever possible, at the risk of severe punishment, just so we could have a bit of sweetness and comfort in our lives. He was surely a thief, but I came to admire him as a modern day Robin Hood, with a forest of broken down houses, cracked roads and overgrown gardens. We were accustomed to our father’s mood swings, the stench of alcohol on his breath, his maniacal sermons. We were even used to his smacks and kicks, to the lashes of his belt. But he had started beating our little brother, John. Jacob was strong and determined, and I was somehow able to retreat deep within myself during whippings. But John was young and so delicate. It tortured Jacob to see him cry and howl after being beaten. And the anger Jacob felt mutated into a fierce hate. Our mother’s lethargy only made things worse. She glided through the house, listlessly, always wearing the same nightgown. She had never been anything more than a ghost to us, of no help whatsoever, possibly doomed to derangement for all eternity, having been crushed by her marriage to a man who spoke like a saint but acted like a demon. Violence seeped into the cracks between the father and his oldest son. We certainly didn’t lack examples. Violence filled our neighbourhood. Robberies, fights, drug deals, domestic violence — what kids from nice neighbourhoods saw on TV, we saw from the windows. The full range of misery, and its faithful companion, crime, was everywhere we looked. We had all the inspiration we needed. Violence had become so normal that when we went to bed, Jacob talked shamelessly with us about various strategies he had come up with for getting rid of our father. Maybe he was only plotting and dreaming out loud, like mistreated employees who think about revenge after a few drinks. Nonetheless, I understood that I needed to talk to Jacob and hold him back. We could lie and steal and be forgiven, but could not raise a hand against our father. For behold, this is the greatest of all sins — the ultimate, unforgivable sin. Why, then, did the Voice speak to me and not my brother? I have often asked myself this question. I have never truly understood, never received a response. I was no better or worse than any of the other children. Maybe it was just that I was available, in the right place at the right time to hear the Voice. In time, I stopped asking all these questions and accepted that I was the messenger as I had accepted the message. I spread the message, tirelessly exalting the souls, like the crackling speaker that warmed the heart of children sitting under a flashing neon sign in a gas station in Rome, Georgie USA. End of Part 03 - To Be Continued.

Summarised background of the remnants of the Cult & the new factions within New Dawn that came after the Collapse. Introduction: The Collapse occurred in late September 2018. According to a war journal left behind by Sam Fisher, the Collapse began with a nuclear attack on Malmstrom Air Force Base in Cascade County, Montana. For the next 24 hours, every nuclear power in the world unleashed their collective arsenals in a total global nuclear war. North Korea, Israel, and Pakistan were all wiped out in this conflict. In addition to this, large portions of China, Russia, the Middle East, Central Europe, and the United States were destroyed. Among the affected areas of the U.S. was the state of Michigan; Fisher's note suggests that Chicago survived, but was damaged in the attacks. Nuclear bombs also dropped on Hope County, Montana, devastating much of the landscape. Joseph Seed saw this as the fulfilment of his prophecy. Many of Hope County's residents were killed, but a great number survived due to the region's survivalist culture and numerous underground bunkers. The radiation from the nuclear weapons mutated various fauna. However, the absence of human activity on the Earth's surface led to the gradual recovery of the environment, and many areas experienced a super bloom of renewed plant and animal life. By 2024, the environment had recovered enough for humans to return to the surface. The infrastructure of the United States was decimated by the Collapse, but over time, small communities began to recover. However, violence eventually began to occur as well, with a man named Vince eventually forming a nationwide confederation of marauders and killers known as the Highwaymen. The Highwaymen began to take control over most of the country, forming chapters led by high-ranking individuals. Meanwhile, Thomas Rush, a war veteran, formed his own network of peaceful allies to rebuild communities and establish settlements across America, succeeding in rebuilding the city of San Francisco. In Hope County, many of the survivors came together to build the settlement of Prosperity on the ruins of John Seed's ranch. Meanwhile, the remnants of the Project at Eden's Gate built their own settlement, New Eden, to the north in the Whitetail Mountains. The two groups remained neutral toward each other in spite of their past conflict. Joseph Seed later left New Eden and exiled himself to the north, leaving his son, Ethan, in charge. Eventually, the Highwaymen came to Hope County, led by sisters Mickey and Lou (the daughters of Vince), and invaded the region, posing a threat to both Prosperity and New Eden. In 2035, Hope County resident Carmina Rye contacted Thomas Rush asking for aid, but Rush and his men were attacked by the Highwaymen and captured. Many areas of the United States were taken over by the Highwaymen in pursuit of salvage. Among these were a naval ghost ship H.M.S. MacCoubrey, which washed ashore in Florida; the Navajo Bridge in Arizona; Five Stars Theme Park in Louisiana; Alcatraz Island in San Francisco, California; the wreck of the C-147B Paladin government plane in Iowa; the crash site of the International Space Station in Nevada; and the Walking Horse Nuclear Plant in Tennessee. New Eden: New Eden is one of the main affiliations in Far Cry New Dawn. They are the remains of Project at Eden's Gate, led by the only remaining member of the Seed Family, Joseph. According to notes, after the Collapse, the surviving Cultists took refuge in the remains of John Seed's bunker. Due to the damage the bunker had sustained in the fighting between the Cult and the Resistance, it was a difficult place to live. Starvation, disease, and a constant threat of flooding threatened the survivors. Years after the event, Joseph Seed appeared at the bunker to rally his following survivors, telling them of a new world built by God for them to live in. All the survivors left the bunker to follow Joseph to the North, to settle this New Eden. New Eden is an established religious group born from the survivors of Project at Eden's Gate and live in the north of post-apocalyptic Hope County. They are at war with the Highwaymen, whom they consider "locusts in their garden", and wage a guerrilla war against them. They live a primeval lifestyle, wearing animal skins and utilising primitive tools and weapons such as bows and arrows. They also abhor technology and intentionally destroy it every chance they get as they see technology as the cause of the Collapse. Joseph Seed empowers his "chosen" with miraculous apples from his mystical tree which grants them superhuman strength and durability. This empowerment allowed Joseph's followers to survive the post-apocalyptic winters, famine, and pestilence. Eventually, the New Edeners thrived and built their own community where they reject everything from the old world and strive to live off the land in peace. One day Joseph Seed dreamt of a "shepherd" that would realise the paradise he prophesied. Joseph left New Eden in self-imposed exile to await this "shepherd" who would seek him out, leaving his prideful son, Ethan Seed, the de facto leader of New Eden. The Security Captain is tasked by Kim Rye to ask for help from New Eden to take down the Highwaymen, although she makes it clear she's only doing it because she sees no better option. The Captain recovers Joseph's Word which allows them entrance into the New Eden compound and delivers the book to Ethan. Ethan grows upset that the Captain retrieved Joseph's Word since they are now prophesied to lead New Eden. Ethan believes his father Joseph to be dead and tasked the Captain to find proof of Joseph's death. In exchange for accomplishing Ethan's task, Ethan promised New Eden's support once the New Edeners saw Joseph was just a man and accepted him as the new prophet of New Eden. The Captain returned however, empowered by their sacred fruit and with a living Joseph Seed, who hailed the Captain as New Eden's "shepherd" and "God's sword". Joseph rallied New Eden to fight at the Captain's side in the war against the Highwaymen. Later in the game however, Ethan Seed betrays them to Mickey and Lou, and they attack and burn New Eden down, killing a large amount of the inhabitants. After the Captain defeats the Twins, they and Joseph discover that Ethan is about to eat a sacred fruit from the sacred tree. Despite Joseph's protest and warning, Ethan takes a bite and is corrupted by it. The Captain is forced to put Ethan down, causing Joseph to fall into despair. Joseph burns down his mystical apple tree and urges the Captain to kill him as he claims his soul is also corrupt - the player can either shot and kill him, or spare him and leave him. If left alive, Joseph disappears with the burnt body of his son. With their leader gone, their home destroyed, and most of their brothers and sisters dead, the remaining New Edeners continue to roam Hope County attacking the Highwaymen. Their future is uncertain, although Grace Armstrong speaks in favour of allowing them to join Prosperity. Members: ⭐ Joseph Seed (Founder and Leader) ⭐ Ethan Seed (Former Leader) ⭐ The Deputy/The Judge ⭐ The Security Captain ⭐ Many unnamed members The Highwaymen: The Highwaymen is a nationwide confederation of marauders, made up of loosely-co-operating Chapters, including one based in Hope County. The Highwaymen are ruthless, callous opportunists who care nothing for civilians and see them as target practice or resources. They are an extremely violent group who play loud music that can be heard in the distance, and entertain themselves with death races and gladiatorial fights. Most of their ranks are highly-armed and have a large arsenal of weaponry and heavily customised vehicles, similar to the Project at Eden's Gate. None of the other chapters are known by name. They are referred to offhandedly as "The Other Chapters" or "The Eastern Chapters". The Hope County Chapter is led by the Twins, Mickey and Lou, during the events of Far Cry New Dawn. They were founded and led by the Twins' father, Vince, until they killed him after he became a "problem", usurping his position. Each twin took up a role, Mickey as the brains and Lou as the muscle. The Twins have proven to be successful leaders, despite their differences. Ever since the twins took over, the Highwaymen became one of the most dominant gangs in America. The Highwaymen have chapters all across America, including Louisana, California, and the Grand Canyon. Each chapter of the Highwaymen seems to compete with one another to try to become the most powerful. Each chapter also seems to function individually with their leadership, though the leaders of each chapter still answer to The Twins. The Twins, however, met resistance from the Scavengers and the New Eden cult in Hope County and waged a brutal war on both groups for control of the region. Members: ⭐ Mickey - Highwaymen co-leader (killed by The Security Captain, or is spared and leaves Hope County in search of her mother, effectively resigning as a leader of the Highwaymen). ⭐ Lou - Highwaymen co-leader (killed by the Security Captain). ⭐ Vince - Former Highwaymen leader and founder (murdered and usurped by the Twins). ⭐ Gina Guerra - Former Highwayman. ⭐ Irwin Smalls - Fighting manager and self-proclaimed right-hand man of the Twins who fell into their debt and wants them dead to solve it. ⭐ Frank - Prison Warden in the former Hope County Jail. The Scavengers: The Scavengers, also known as "Scavs", are the collection of people in Hope County that survived the nuclear holocaust and are a faction in Far Cry New Dawn. Under the leadership of The Security Captain, Kim Rye, and Thomas Rush, they rose up to combat the Highwaymen and the twins Mickey and Lou. The Scavengers are a group of people that live in post-apocalyptic Hope County. They survived the nuclear holocaust and are trying to rebuild Hope County in communities such as Prosperity, which was originally John Seed's ranch. However, when the Highwaymen and its leaders, Mickey and Lou arrived, their peace and mission of rebuilding Hope County were put in peril since the Highwaymen came to oppress and pillage their communities. They sought help from Thomas Rush's group to aid them in fighting the Highwaymen and restore Hope County, but the Highwaymen ambushed Rush's train, killing many of the specialists needed to upgrade Prosperity. Carmina Rye managed to rescue The Security Captain however, and together, they rallied the Scavengers in order to fight back the Highwaymen. The Captain began scrounging Hope County for specialists, upgrading Prosperity's infrastructure, raiding Highwaymen supplies, and taking over Hope County outposts. Introduction: Call of the Wild is a side story mission in Far Cry 5. It takes place in Jacob Seed's region of Whitetail Mountains. This mission requires the player to destroy all ten Wolf Beacons in the region. Doing so will help build the players reputation needed to gain a confrontation with Jacob and will also complete objectives needed for the Troublemaker Achievement. The quest giver for this mission is Tammy Barnes. Players will gain access to this side mission after completing Radio Silence. Tammy will call the player and tell them that she believes destroying the beacons is good for the resistance. Four beacons will be shown on the map. These can be destroyed from a safe distance by using an armed helicopter. After they are gone, the player will be tasked to track down and destroy 6 more. These will not be on the map and will have to be located by the player. Objectives: Destroy the Wolf Beacons in Whitetail Mountains. (First a set of four, then a set a 6). An armed Helicopter is the best way of doing this mission. The beacons have a red light on top, cearly visible night and day, but sometimes hidden behind trees. Shoot the square structure at the bottom of the beacon tower. Missiles help, but the helicopters mounted machine gun will get the job done. Reward: ⭐ 200 RP, $1,600 Introduction: Light Em Up is a side mission in Far Cry 5 which takes place in John Seed's region of Holland Valley. Throughout Holland Valley, you will find large red silos, with an Eden's Gate symbol painted on. Simply throw explosives at them, or shoot many bullets, and they will explode. Recomend using an armed helicopter, as the silos are very easy to spot from the air, both day and night. See map at the end o this article. Once you destroy 14 of the silos the mission will end. Introduction: What They Carried is a unique side mission in Far Cry 5. The quest begins in the Redler Residence in Holland Valley but utilizes all three main regions of the game. The quest is given by Vietnam veteran Wendell Redler who is looking for codes written on the back of lighters. The player will need to collect all 12 to complete the mission. Wendell Redler is a Vietnam veteran, who many years ago made a pact with his Vietnam squad members that they'd be ready for an event such as the Eden's Gate takeover, and prepared for this event by stashing weapons and supplies in a shed in Wendell's front yard. To keep the stash safe from any one man being able to steal it all, or one of them going rogue and taking it, they etched a single digit into their Vietnam Veteran lighters, with Wendell being the one to know the proper sequence of the dozen numbers. Unfortunately, as the years have gone by, all of Wendell's friends have dropped, one by one, until he is the last man standing. Wendell requests you find his friends' lighters, and bring them back before the cult finds them. As a reward, he will let you have the contents of the stash, as he knows you'd get better use out of it than he would. Locations: Whitetail Mountains: ⭐ Treehouse Bunker north of Cedar Lake close to where the river flows in. There is a grapple point near a waterfall, and the treehouse is close by. After going up, look for a stack of wooden pallets and blow them up. The hatch is underneath the pile. Lighter is inside the bunker. ⭐ The location of this lighter will be revealed upon activating What They Carried - it is the only location revealed remotely without purchasing the map. ⭐ Whitetail Park Visitor Center, west of the Wolf's Den. The lighter is sitting on a shelf in the building closest to the parking lot. ⭐ This is the only lighter not located in a prepper bunker. ⭐ Look for the cabin between Clagett Bay and Langford Lake, north of Widow's Creek. ⭐ Elliot Residence north of the Cult's Compound, east of the Moccasin River. The lighter is part of The Holdouts Prepper Stash. Head north from the 'n' in Langford Lake on the map, or south from Wolf's Den. There is a shack near the foot of the canyon on the mountainside north of the lake. Crate is inside. ⭐ The Grill Streak - South of F.A.N.G. Center. Look for an orange and gray tent under the outdoor pavillon. Crate is right in front of it. ⭐ Breakthrough Camp - South end of the region, south of the Moccasin River and northwest of Silver Lake. Look for a cultists encampment. The building with the crate has a red sign above it that says Gookooko'oo Lodge. Crate is next to a radio. The Rook Islands are the Indonesian setting of Far Cry 3 and The Far Cry Experience. It is where Vaas, Citra, Hoyt Volker, Buck and Dr. Earnhardt are based, and is full of relics such as ancient ruins and World War II bunkers and tunnels. The Rook Islands consist of two major islands - the North Island and the South Island (actually four islands separated by streams) - along with three smaller islands. Background: The Rook Islands were once considered a tropical paradise. They are filled with tropical forests, green grasslands, thick swamps and steep mountains, but years of violence and neglect have caused them to fall into a state of permanent turmoil. The once peaceful archipelago belonged to the thriving native tribes, most notably the Rakyat, who controlled the islands in their entirety. However, lawless pirates and militiamen have since violently taken over the archipelago. In the 15th Century Zheng He, a Chinese explorer, passed the islands during a voyage to map the oceans. They proved an ideal location for one of his most loyal warriors - Lin Cong. After Zheng He left the islands, Lin Cong stole one of his treasure ships, the Chaoyang, which contained massive amounts of gold and treasure collected by Zheng on his many voyages and promised his crew wealth and power which he promptly delivered. Once Lin Cong and his men secured and hid the ship, they set out to enslave the natives, they forced the native slaves to build shrines as well as some towns and temples in his name. At this point, Lin Cong and his men were considered lords of the islands (with Lin still in complete control), the island's newfound empire was short-lived, however, as a vengeful Zheng He returned for Chaoyang and his traitorous old ally. After a relatively minor battle, Zheng He wiped Lin Cong's empire from the island for good (with the help from the Rakyat who took the opportunity to rebel), but not before Lin Cong could seal away his most prized possession: the Chaoyang. Centuries later, a Japanese Brigadier General named Takeo Masaki had his men land on the isles to start up a small air force/army base during World War II. The natives were then forced to the centers of the isles, with some being imprisoned and most being killed. The soldiers were then able to build bunkers and fortifications across the island's perimeter with the natives effectively driven back. However, just under a year after landing on the Rook Islands, the terrible news of Japan's bombings finally reached the island's radio station, Private Kashiwara, and Superior Private Shimizu sabotaged the radios and radio towers to prevent word of the world war reaching the island. This caused great tension between Kashiwara, Shimizu, and their superiors, eventually leading the decorated Major Tanida to kill several of his own men, whom he believed were traitors working for the Americans. There were also two top secret projects, named Project Tenka and Project Kyouken, that were in the works led by a Doctor Fujita, under orders from the General. After being deserted on the island with the rest of the Japanese soldiers, Fujita grew increasingly paranoid until he finally descended into madness, before he met his untimely demise. During the 1980s the Rook Islands had an economic boom from large amounts of money coming into the island from mining. Occasionally, Privateers will be heard discussing the topic. This was most likely the time when the Rook islands had some form of organized government like the one seen on billboards throughout the islands. Sometime shortly after the Rook Islanders attempted to govern themselves, Hoyt Volker landed on the island and brought on one of the darkest times in the Rook Islands already dark history. As of 2012, the Rook Islands had not progressed from its past issues. The population had grown tired and only wish to live their lives in solitude, no longer caring who inhabits the islands any more. The only resistance to the outside world is the people of the Rakyat, who believe the island was and still is rightfully their homeland. With the pirates still swarming the islands, the Rakyat are the only ones willing to fight back. After the events of Far Cry 3, the Rakyat reclaimed control of the islands. If the "Join Citra" ending was chosen by the player then the unnamed child of Jason Brody most likely ruled the islands, but if the player chose the "Save Your Friends" ending then it is unclear who would rule the islands since Citra would be dead. All that is known for certain is that the Rakyat will clean up their islands and return them to the way they once were. Notable Locations: ⭐ Amanaki - A friendly settlement located on the unnamed northern island of the Rook Islands. Jason Brody is brought here at the beginning of the game by Dennis. The town features include: a general store, a place to play a game of throwing knives and a noticeboard with various side quests just outside the village. ⭐ Citra's Temple - Located on the North Island. This is the place where Citra lives. Weapons cannot be used near or inside the temple, since they are automatically holstered. Citra's Temple is located to the south-east of the Calvary Point. ⭐ Badtown - A shanty town village located on northern island. It is located on the east end of the island, inland from the sea along a river, in the Murder Summit Region of the island. The village is made up of mostly shanty's, and the residents are fallen men and women shunned by Rakyat society. The town has a general store as well as some seedy businesses for prostitution, drinking, gambling and drugs. ⭐ Gaztown - A small village located in the Krige Valley region on the southernmost island in the Rook Islands. It is located on the western side of southern island perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean. One of the island's main roads passes through the middle of the village. The village itself is home to a few small businesses that serve the locals and a small church. When compared to other villages and towns in the islands, it appears to be a well maintained middle-class village. It is a stark contrast to the poverty-stricken settlements scattered throughout the Rook Islands. It, unlike Thurston, is not controlled by privateers. ⭐ Thurston Town - A town located on the Southern Island. It features a number of urban buildings as well as large apartment complex-type structures. Thurston has more urban buildings than any other settlement in the Rook Islands. It also hosts a number of local businesses and a large number of Privateers who do not attack Jason Brody. Thurston seems to be thriving as a result of the Privateer population who serve as customers for the local businesses. One of the most notable landmarks is a run-down hotel used by Privateers as accommodation. ⭐ Beras Town - A settlement on the northern island. There are large rice fields near the town which Hoyt uses as obstacle course (with landmines) for natives. The town also contains many native style houses and sheds similar to those in Badtown. The coordinates of this location are: [X: 738, Y: 815] Island Location: Based on the wildlife, people, environment and culture seen in Far Cry 3, the Rook Islands are most likely located in either East Nusa Tenggara or the Moluccas of Indonesia. In real life, an Island called Rook Island is located near Papua New Guinea. However, according to the local language used, Malay language and/or Indonesian language, the location may be around Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore and other countries in Southeast Asia where Bahasa Melayu and/or Bahasa Indonesia are spoken. Based on the fact that the island has a bizarre mix of species from both sides of the Wallace Line - with tigers, leopards, and Komodo dragons from the Southeast Asian side, and Cassowaries, dingoes, and Birds of Paradise from the Oceanian - the most likely point on the map for the Rook Islands is directly between Bali and Lombok, where drastic differences in wildlife are also seen despite the islands' proximity to one another. The Asian black bear however is not naturally found in either Indonesia or Oceania. Geography: ⭐ Rook Islands: The Rook Island archipelago bears some similarities to the Indonesian archipelago. ⭐ North Rook Island: The northern island resembles a mixture of Nusa Tenggara, Sumatra, Kalimantan (Borneo), Sulawesi and Komodo Island due to large jungles, large savannah, some beaches, small islands, farms and many towns can be found here. Komodo Dragons also common on this island but in the real life Komodo Dragons are endemic to Komodo Island. ⭐ South Rook Island: The southern island resembles a mixture of Papua and Maluku Islands due to its mountainous nature, large jungles, and beautiful marine parks. ⭐ Beras Town: Bears similarities to the island of Java, Sumatra, and Bali. ⭐ Citra's Temple: Closely resembles temples found in Sumatra, Java, and Bali. Demographics: ⭐ Rakyat: The Rakyat people resemble the Dayak people. The names of both peoples strongly resemble each other. ⭐ Rook Islander: The people of the Rook Islands closely resemble Indonesians and Malaysians. ⭐ Pirates: Indonesia has long been ranked one of the highest countries for illegal piracy. ⭐Privateers: Private Military Companies are becoming increasingly common within South East Asia specifically Indonesia, bearing a similarity to Hoyt's Privateers. Wildlife: ⭐ Komodo Dragon ⭐ Sumatran Tiger ⭐ Cassowary ⭐ Tapir ⭐ Bird of Paradise ⭐ Leopard ⭐ Dingo ⭐ Rabid Dog ⭐ Crocodile ⭐ Buffalo ⭐ Asian Black Bear ⭐ Deer ⭐ Rat ⭐ Chicken ⭐ Pig ⭐ Snake ⭐ Aquatic Animals - Sharks, Moray Eel's, River Fish & Manta Ray's “Remnants of the Japanese occupation of Rook Island during WWII still exist today, including several letters that were never delivered.” Letters of the Lost are personal correspondence written by Japanese soldiers stationed on the island during World War II, usually to family members back home, that can now be found alongside the dead, decayed bodies of Imperial soldiers lying inside the old Japanese fortifications that are scattered throughout the Rook Islands. Many of the letters, when read together, tell the story of how some of the soldiers came to die, and of their personal feelings at a time when Japan was facing total defeat at the hands of the Allies. After finding six Letters of the Lost, a special melee weapon called the Japanese Tanto can be acquired for free at any store, replacing the Machete.
“My Dearest Keiko, By the time you read this, I will be dead and you will be a grown woman. Your mother will give you this letter when she believes you are ready to read it. I can only hope that she's spoken fondly of me and that you prayed to me at the shrine as I have prayed for you. We keep ourselves busy with work and singing the Tekihaikuman. Do they still sing it in your time, I wonder? I hope your Japan is a place of peace and prosperity, not filled with the thousands of enemies in the songs we sing. We must vanish into the jungles. Malaria has destroyed our ranks and we're too few to defend the lines. Major Mogi says we must ready ourselves for when the Americans land on our beaches, and drive them back to their graves in the water. In this we will be victorious if each of us offers nothing less than our lives.” - Captain Jiro Sato “My Dearest Ayumi, I am delighted to write you again. We have been in the jungle for a few months. It is hot and sticky, but we are filling the jungle with traps and ambush points. Major Mogi says the American devils will land any day now. Private Tadao says the islands around us have fallen. The Americans are too afraid to face us in battle, so they send planes to break our backs. I trust Major Mogi. He has been a good leader, but he drives us very hard and expects nothing but the best. We are only too glad to give it. The burden of leadership must weigh heavily on him. He paces at night and when he doesn't think we see, he talks to himself. That is what duty does to us, my daughter. It makes martyrs or madmen of us. Still, something bothers him, but I cannot ask what it is. It is not my place.” - Private Arata Hyogo “Mother, We lost seven men since the last time I wrote to you, Itchi and Ken among them. They were like brothers. Ken was very funny. I wish you could have met him. Itchi was quiet and strong. Never complaining. The men need me to be strong and Major Mogi is becoming possessed. It isn't proper to speak of such things, but I cannot share my fears with anyone here. Major Mogi has begun seeing enemies where there are none. No Americans have landed, and yet he sees them under every tree. Every bird is a Thunderbolt or Corsair, every shadow a bomb. He even accuses us of conspiring with the enemy. I'm certain things will return to normal once we have word from home. The jungle deafens you with its ghosts.” - Your Son, Lance Corporal Mori “My Brother Ito, A terrible thing has happened. Major Mogi went mad and began shooting the men. I don't know how it happened, but he was arguing with Private Tadao when he killed him with his pistol and then began firing on us. We didn't know what to do. We're trained to kill the enemy, but he was our superior. We shot him. My thigh is infected and I am fighting fever. There are a handful of us left. It is hard to think. I am so hot. I have given my letters to Private Isao and Kei. They are young and smart and they will make sure my words will find their way to you. Live well. I'm sorry we argued as children. I'm sorry I wasn't a better brother.” - Ren “General Yamagata, I hope this letter finds you well on this Fall day. The weather here is sticky and unpleasant. You would find it invigorating, I'm sure. Forgive me for this familiarity, but I wouldn't be the soldier I am today were it not for your example. Although we have never met, I have lived my life by your discipline and loyalty to the Empire of Japan. I hope to make our Emperor proud by following in your steps. The Americans continue to bomb us like cowards. I have seen their smoke stacks traveling further north, skipping over us. They know better than to invade us, the Neck is impregnable, but they've destroyed our bunkers with lucky hits and what the bombs haven't killed, malaria has taken. I've decided to take the men into the jungle as you did in the First Great War against the Germans. My duty is simple… destroy the enemy. They shall find me ready and eager to spill their blood.” - Major Kuro Mogi “General Yamagata, The devils and their sorties have killed many of my soldiers. I cannot tell you the anger and frustration I feel to see their planes fly over us and be unable to answer them properly with anti-aircraft fire. Or watching an invisible demon like malaria ravage my ranks. I've heard stories that these islands were cursed, but I thought it superstitious nonsense until today, when Private Tadao reported that the latest communications were too garbled to understand. He was so ashamed, he couldn't look me in the eyes. Private Tadao isn't a good soldier. I've had the men routinely beat him to instill shikata ga nai as they should have done in basic training, but he's never risen to the occasion.” - Major Kuro Mogi “General Yamagata, I am disappointed in my men, General Yamagata. I thought they could weather this better, but they have not. I can only imagine what I could have accomplished had I led your men as you did when you fought the Germans during the First World War. I am sure I have mentioned Private Tadao. He cries like an infant when he thinks no one watches, but everyone sees. He sickens me with his weakness, and he now spreads it like an illness. The other men are sad for home. They protect him, coddle him, as if he will become a man this way. I ask you, what use is a radioman if we have no high-powered radios to receive news. Private Tadao says that the radio relays on nearby islands have been destroyed, but I blame him.” - Major Kuro Mogi “General Yamagata, I am shocked and dismayed to report that what I had assumed was Private Tadao's incompetence is in fact sabotage. I was suspicious that none of the long-range radios were working, so I checked them. I am no expert in electronics, but even I could see that the tubes had been removed, the wires cut, and the battery missing. I thought him weak, not a saboteur. He is too simple to be a spy. Regardless, he has betrayed his follow soldiers, he has betrayed me, he has betrayed his oath to protect Japan, and he has betrayed the Imperial Family. I am going to execute Private Tadao, and if any of the men try to protect him, I will be forced to execute them as well.” - Major Kuro Mogi "My darling wife, my beautiful daughter, I don't know why I am writing to you. I know you'll never see these words, and if the Imperial Ancestors are merciful, you'll never know of my shame. I cannot tell you what possessed me to disable those radios, but these men… they are the only family I have left. When I heard the news, I felt like my heart had been cleaved. How could I make them suffer as I had? And now that I haven't told them, how can I have kept this from them? I wonder, when the bomb fell, were you tending in the garden? Were you feeding Aika? Did you feel anything? Did you even know what happened? These questions haunt me, and I can only pray that you did not suffer. I pray that you died ignorant of what came next.” - Tadao “My Darling Wife, I don't know why I keep writing to you. Perhaps I am hoping you survived somehow. Perhaps I wish that I could come home and find you and Aika waiting for me. My heart wishes it with a terrible ache, but I suspect I know the truth: that you are gone. And Aika. And Hiroshima. Major Mogi watches me with a hateful gaze. It's as if he knows the truth, but how can he? I can't bear to face him. I'm afraid that if he confronts me again, I'll break down and finally tell him everything about Hiroshima. The men try to protect me from him, but what have I done? I was too scared to tell them the truth, and now it's too late. In a moment of grief, I smashed the radios and betrayed everyone. Perhaps it's better I die. Perhaps then I can be with you and Aika.” - Tadao “Little Sister, These are my final words. I will commit seppuku once I finish this letter, it will be the last honorable thing I do. But before I die I must tell someone the truth. Tadao betrayed us. I read his letter. He sabotaged our radios after hearing of the bomb in Hiroshima. I cannot blame him. He wished to spare us from the ugly truth. The Major wasn't as understanding. He executed Tadao and then turned his sidearm on anyone who protested. We fought back, killing him, and now I am the only one left. Ren died last night from an infection. It pains me to know that I had a hand in killing Major Mogi, he was once a good man. I hope our ancestors understand how dire the situation was and have mercy on me, and I hope that one day you can read these words and forgive me. Goodbye.” - Shinji “To Colonel Imada Daichi, I hope your family is well. I apologize for stepping outside the chain of command, but I feel that Lieutenant Colonel Yamada Masahiro is not taking my worries seriously, and is thus unfit to continue commanding this facility and its experiments. I must report that Project Tenka and Project Kyouken would have progressed much further if the Lieutenant Colonel would just listen to me. Instead, he has cut me out of his inner circle of advisors and has forbid me from communicating with anyone. I have been forced to write multiple copies of my letters and give them to loyal soldiers and scientists in the hope that one reaches you. Please, I am a prisoner of the Lieutenant Colonel's ambitions and unable to serve the Emperor because of his meddling.” - Dr. Koga Hayato “To Colonel Imada Daichi, I can only assume that my previous letters and the charges I have leveled against Lieutenant Colonel Yamada Masahiro and his continued incompetence have not yet reached you or you would have seen the truth and replaced the Lieutenant Colonel by now. I believe that the Lieutenant Colonel has intercepted several of my letters already, and that he has sent men to search my room in secret." "I see the truth of it now. He fears me. He is afraid of my success and covets the glory for himself when Project Tenka harnesses the power of lightning and Project Kyouken the fury of the animals. He knows I will bring a new sunrise to the Empire of Japan. I fear I must protect the critical findings of my research from him and my team until you intercede in the matter. It is the only way to protect the Empire and the Emperor from his ambitions.” - Dr. Koga Hayato “To Colonel Imada Daichi, Why have you not written to me? I am sure that you must have received at least one of the sixty-seven letters I sent to you. I have been a fool, a blind stupid fool. I confronted Lieutenant Colonel Yamada Masahiro about his attempts to sabotage me, but he feigned innocence and surprise. I understand now. He was not the man I had to worry about. He is too dim-witted to challenge me. It was you. You ordered him to steal my research so that you alone could reap the glory. The decoration for the Order of the Rising Sun was to be my honor, but I see now that you want to deny me that privilege. You have condemned Japan for your hubris, and I will not let you get away with it. You cannot keep me silenced.” - Dr. Koga Hayato “To Colonel Imada Daichi, You wanted to sabotage me, but you did not expect me to sabotage you instead. By the time you have read this, I will have released the infected animals in the Kyouken lab and forced an overload in the Tenka generators. And when the Imperial Japanese Army sends soldiers to uncover what happened, you will no longer be able to hide the truth, and I will be a hero of the Empire. I only wish I could be there to see the look on your face when they come to arrest you, when they strip you of your rank, and drive your humiliated family into the streets. I want you to remember that you called this upon yourself….” - Dr. Koga Hayato “To Colonel Imada Daichi, Dr. Koga Hayato attempted to sabotage the projects, but he was shot while being apprehended and we could not question him on the reasons for his actions. Fortunately, there was no real harm to the projects, and I would appreciate a replacement for Dr. Koga as soon as possible.” - Lieutenant Colonel Yamada Masahiro “To whoever reads this, I'm Hurk. So, I found these old letters, right? In Japanese or something, but these ones were totally faded out and really hard to read, so I figured nobody would care what some dead army dude was saying about shit that happened during the Civil War. No offense to dead army dude's family, but he's dead and I seriously need this paper. So if you're a dude or dudette reading this, please be on the lookout for a white and gray macaque monkey named Gilbert. I named him that. Gilbert is evil. I don't mean throwing crap at you evil. I mean holding it so you can see it and then rubbing it in your face. I think that if Gilbert could talk, he'd rub shit in your face while saying something clever like "monkey see, monkey do". Yeah, totally bent. Anyways, he got away from me, right, and I need to get him back before —” - Hurk “To whoever reads this, it's Hurk again. I ran out of space on that last piece of paper, so I was saying I needed to stop Gilbert before he started his rain (rein?) of terror, right? Too late. He already started. Gilbert's got other monkeys following him like a pack, doing his bidding. It's like watching cheerleaders, man. You know the way cheerleaders move around in a pack, right, always following that one really hot chick with the blond hair, the tight ass, and the perfect tits? And it's like, every time they walk past you, they move like they're in slow motion, and they look at you like they don't even see you. Totally Lacy Barnstrom hot, right? She was the head cheerleader at my school, and I did shit to her yearbook pictures that totally got the pages all fucked up. Shit, I'm out of space again.” - Hurk “To whoever reads this, Okay, so I got sidetracked by Lacy Barnstrom and her yearbook pics, but you would too if you knew her. Actually, I hear she makes porn now. Totally gotta check that shit out because dude! My angel is a centerfold! How awesome is that? Anyways, I gotta stop Gilbert. See, I taught Gilbert how to pull the pins on grenades and how to throw them. And now I think he likes it. He's gotten a taste for blowing shit up and he's teaching the other monkeys how to do it. Scratch that. I think he's teaching them how to pull the pins on grenades, but he isn't teaching them how to throw the grenades! Sick, right? This monkey is off the vine, man. Anyways, I'm following the sounds of the explosions. Little dude can't run forever.” - Hurk “To whoever reads this, I found more washed out letters from Japanese Civil War dudes… how many of them are there? Anyways, it's over. I did it. I caught up to Gilbert and his pack of monkeys. There weren't many of them left, and the survivors… they had that look in their eyes, the look that said "you haven't seen the shit I've seen… you weren't there, man, you weren't there!" I had no choice. I had to challenge Gilbert to dominance of the pack. It was the only way to save the survivors. Gilbert chose the weapons… the grenades I brought, like I knew he would. And that's how I beat him, because the one thing I never taught the little dude, was how to fuck with the timers. I don't think I'll ever forget the look on his face when I caught the grenade… and threw it back. That startled "o" face he made will haunt me for the rest of my life. But the pack's free now… the pack's free.” - Hurk Drives containing data on drug plant growth and manufacturing methods that were lost during a cargo plane crash. Memory cards are found in abandoned laptops across the island and contain information about the local drug trade. Finding them will earn you money and items. They reveal more about Rook Islands' sordid connections to drug cartels. Memory Cards are mostly found in the safe houses of outposts, and yield $250 for finding one and possibly some lootable item as well.
⭐ Barbiturates Formula: Current numbers for barbiturates including phenobarbital, amobarbital, and secobarbital, are not promising. Their usage and sales are declining and we recently had a bad batch that led to the deaths of nearly two dozen vacationing college students in Miami. Our final assessment is that this compound is unprofitable for international distribution. ⭐ Benzodiazepine Formula: This data was hacked from a German pharmaceutical company. It details the chemicals and equipment necessary to create this sedative. Early tests are highly promising and the addiction rate is through the roof. Potential markets include North America and Western Europe. ⭐ Cocaine Formula: The kidnapped Columbian manufacturer is now sharing his cartel’s manufacturing techniques. It includes an exceptionally efficient method of growing coca leaves, turning them into paste, and from paste into the base where it is refined into 99% pure cocaine hydrochloride. We recommend immediate production for markets in Brazil, South Africa, North America and Australia. ⭐ Crack Cocaine Formula: The source for this formula is unknown, but it includes the manufacture of cocaine from the Coco leaf, through to the use of ammonia or baking soda to manufacture it into rock form. This is listed as a non-profitable avenue since the drug is made cheaply on a local level and not distributed internationally like cocaine itself. ⭐ Ecstasy Formula: We are very excited by the data from our Chinese contact. He oversees the export of a synthesized extract used in making Ecstasy and provided us all the equipment needed to make a wide variety of the drug in tablet form. Initial tests are extremely positive with minimal fatalities. Markets include North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. ⭐ Failed Drug Patent 1 Formula: The recent acquisition of numerous drug patents that failed FDA or European Medicines Agency standards shows promise. Most of the compounds are highly addictive. We just need to minimize the side effects. One of the compounds is causing test subjects to expel a fecal-like material from their urinary tracts. Further testing continues. ⭐ Failed Drug Patent 2 Formula: The investment into experimental military drugs continues to be a massive disappointment. All of the items are causing severe mental distress in our test subjects. One entire batch of subjects and three of our own people died when a compound turned out to be a strand of genetically modified Ebola Zaire. We recommend that all remaining materials be incinerated or sold to extremists groups as chemical weapons. ⭐ Failed Drug Patent 3 Formula: The research into naturally occurring hallucinogenic compounds native to Rook Island may yield the world’s next great super drug. Effects caused by the local flora are exceptional, so exceptional, that our own people are using them recreationally. The only issue is the drug’s lack of addictive properties. We are currently adding nicotine to the compounds. Further tests should yield more positive results. ⭐ GHB Formula: Data recently purchased from an Ibiza club chemist includes the various formulations for the intoxicant Gamma-Hydroxybutric Acid (GHB). As one of the date rape drugs, this drug’s markets include centers for human trafficking including Eastern Europe, China, Southeast Asia, and India. A batch sent out for field testing in Los Angeles is generating positive feedback from the usual clients. We recommend doubling the street price. ⭐ Heroin Formula: The data purchased from an Afghan drug lord pertaining to the manufacture of heroin tells us nothing new. It details information on the proper soil and temperatures for growing the poppy itself, to harvesting the opium, to the purification of morphine and its extraction into a heroin base. Again, all information we already have. Further deals for “trade secrets” with this contact should be avoided. ⭐ Ketamine Formula: The data stolen from a New Delhi black market pharmaceutical company shows some promise. It includes the process to create the club drug Special-K and its variants, as well as the pharmaceutical-grade medicine. Some strange side effects, such as anal bleeding, are occurring, but this shouldn’t prevent us from going live with the product. Primary markets include China and Australia. ⭐ Khat Formula: The data from our Yemani plantation owner details the 8 years required to grow the chewable leaves of this plant, as well as attempts to naturally intensify its amphetamine-like high. Markets are exclusive to Africa and the Middle East, though market penetration cannot compete with Yemeni manufacturing. Blending this compound with other drugs should be considered to make it more appealing. ⭐ Krokodil Formula: Our Russian contact remains an asset of dubious value. We now have data on the manufacture of this meth-like substance. It generates extreme, cheap highs but also causes severe tissue damage. Users are known to have muscle and bone exposed from injecting krokodil, forcing the amputation of limbs. Markets are exclusively Eastern European, with the side effects too extreme to consider for worldwide distribution. ⭐ LSD-25 Formula: The new talent brought in from Cambodia is already proving their worth. They have the proper equipment and techniques to create LSD from starting bases such as ergot and lysergic acid, as well as a method of distributing the LSD tabs by mail. That said, it is considered an unprofitable venture, since the market is relatively small. On the other hand, we will be prepared in the event the drug experiences resurgence in popularity. ⭐ Marijuana Formula: The data purchased from growers in British Columbia, Canada, details different marijuana plants, tips on indoor and outdoor growth, and methods to cultivate of the leaves on a large scale. These techniques surpass our own and should be implemented immediately. Markets such as Russia, Western Europe, and North America have a nearly bottomless demand for this product. ⭐ Meth Formula: Our Mexican Organized Crime Unit lieutenant has new data following the raid of a super-lab in Sonora, Mexico. The intel gives precise details on how to mass manufacture Meth, lists disreputable wholesalers of ephedrine and pseudoephedrine, and includes research on the best fillers to maximize profit. Hopefully this compound will recapture some of the markets lost to the product coming out of New Mexico. ⭐ Mushrooms Formula: Efforts to blackmail a Mexican plantation owner are paying off. We now have detailed files on methods used to grow and preserve a number of hallucinogenic mushrooms. These findings will be put to immediate use for locally grown compounds and should improve the shelf life of our products. ⭐ Opium Formula: The formula stolen from a Myanmar drug lord includes the poppy's proper growth techniques, the harvesting of the poppy’s milk, and finally, its processing into sun-dried morphine bricks. It shares markets similar to those of heroin and will be highly profitable. Full production should begin immediately. ⭐ PCP Formula: Research into manufacturing PCP, including the equipment and the chemicals used, is complete. Given the drug’s frequent nasty side effects and the fact that its usage tends to spike and dip, it does not have enough of a market to warrant an international operation. We have to capability to produce this compound, but should focus our resources on other products. ⭐ Spice Formula: Thanks to an anonymous online informant, we now have data on the synthetic compounds necessary to make Spice, a drug similar to marijuana but with additional side effects like hallucinations, anxiety attacks, interstellar navigation, and dangerously adverse physical reactions. Spice remains legal in the US for the moment. We should corner the market on this product immediately. Skills are upgradeable enhancements to the player's ability in Far Cry 3 that Jason can unlock by completing missions and levelling up in the campaign. As more skills are unlocked, more additions will be made to your Tatau. These skills are categorized in three different trees. ⭐ The Heron: Long-range takedowns and mobility ⭐ The Shark: Assault takedowns and healing ⭐ The Spider: Stealth takedowns and survival THE HERON TREE:THE SHARK TREE:THE SPIDER TREE:Backstory and historical fan fiction on the lore of Rook Island. Rook Island is broken up into a number of factions, below is a listing and breakdown of each faction. PRIVATEERS:“This is the tale of Hoyt's privateers, hired guns with hearts full of lead. Some hail from armies, some recruited raw, all intend big profits from the end of your life. They are the true power on the island." The Privateers are a faction of mercenaries based on the Rook Islands led by Hoyt Volker. Compared to Vaas' Pirates, they are much better equipped and organized, wearing tactical gear and using state of the art weaponry. Most of the Privateers have military training to fight professionally. They were hired by Hoyt to protect him and his business. They can be distinguished by their yellow clothing and armor. After the events of Far Cry 3, despite their superior training and better equipment, they were eliminated by the Rakyat. It is assumed that the remaining privateers were captured by either Indonesia or a new, stable Rook Islander government. Background: The Privateers take the Pirates' place as enemies once the player reaches the Southern Island, being tougher to take down than the latter, but once Jason acquires the Privateer recruit uniform, they will only attack if provoked. It is important to note that even when wearing the uniform, Jason is not allowed to enter high-security command centres or outposts. Also, Jason will not be allowed to attack civilians while wearing the Privateer suit; doing so will cause nearby Rakyat to attack him. The Privateer uniform also has no effect on Vaas' pirates and they will still attack him on sight, indeed, it has been shown in the mission "Defusing the Situation" that the pirates attack the privateers' drug fields which may be related to Jason in privateer uniform having no affect on Vaas' Pirates. Notable Members: ⭐ Hoyt Volker - Leader, Drug Lord, Privateer, Trafficker, Businessman ⭐ Sam Becker - High-Level Member, Privateer, CIA Agent, Spy ⭐ Vaas Montenegro - Privateer, Trafficker, Pirate Leader, Associate, Allied Subordinate ⭐ Bambi "Buck" Hughes - Associate, Personal Hitman RAKYAT:“The Rakyat have lived on the Rook Islands for uncounted years. Like the rock and sand of the beaches, they are survivors. The keepers of secrets. Very few are allowed into their culture and even less invited to join the ranks of their warriors.” The Rakyat is a tribe indigenous to the Rook Islands archipelago. Their leader is Citra Talugmai. Background: During the course of the game, Jason Brody will be tasked with helping the natives liberate the islands from pirate control. There are two types of Rakyat: Rebel Defender and Rebel Assaulter. Compared to factions such as the Pirates and Privateers the Rakyat are grossly outgunned. What they do have is a passionately methodical sense of honor and an unbreakable determination to free Rook Island from tyrants such as Vaas and Hoyt. The Rakyat are an isolationist ethnic group - only the few likes of Dennis and Jason are accepted as long as they completely assimilate into their simple, instinctive way of life. Rakyat Males generally receive a somewhat Spartan upbringing, learning survival and hunting skills at an early age. Notable Members: ⭐ Citra Talugmai - Leader ⭐ Dennis Rogers - High-Ranked Member ⭐ Jason Brody - High-Ranked Member ⭐ Vaas Montenegro - Formerly High Ranked Member PIRATES:“This is the tale of Vaas's pirate hordes, who came to the island to rape, pillage and steal. They wanted one thing, they wanted money and it would be theirs, no matter the cost. Vaas holds court, the Jester of Rook Island, but is your machete what lies in store?” The Pirates are a criminal faction in Far Cry 3 and in The Far Cry Experience located on the Rook Islands' northern island. They are led by Vaas Montenegro. Fuelled by the lust for money, they came to the Rook Islands to rape, pillage, steal, and murder. They are the first enemy faction that Jason Brody encounters and can usually be found patrolling the island or at outposts and are easily distinguishable from the Privateers, Rakyat and common villagers by their red clothing. The Pirates hold a grudge against the Rakyat, and these factions will attack each other on sight. They have an unsteady alliance with Hoyt Volker's Privateers, but this alliance is broken when Jason kills Vaas. The Pirates have lower quality weapons and equipment than the Privateers. Pirates are not exceptionally skilled fighters; they are prone to firing randomly into the bushes or throwing grenades at random in hopes of flushing Jason into the open. After the events of Far Cry 3, they are eliminated by the Rakyat due to their very poor training and tactics. Most likely any remaining pirates return to their countries of origin. Notable Members: ⭐ Vaas Montenegro - Leader ⭐ Doug - Club DJ, Spotter, would trick tourists in Bangkok to parachute in the Rook Islands where they would be kidnapped and sold into slavery. The Challenges of the Rakyat can be found all across the Rook Islands. These challenges often offer rewards, like experience and/or money. Note that the value of your reward depends on your score. Trials: Weapons: Locations:
⭐ Bone Crusher: The goal in this challenge is to get as many roadkills as possible, the points you get per enemy are dependent on what type of enemy you hit. Players can also ride over blue barrels, to get extra time. Players should be wary about helicopters as they will spawn during the challenge. ⭐ Hide And Seek: The goal of this challenge is to eliminate as many enemies as possible with only a suppressed 6P9 and a melee weapon. You will start the challenge with 1 minute and 30 seconds, but just as any other challenge, there are multiple barrels which can be shot for an extra 10 seconds each. ⭐ Dashing Assault: The goal of this challenge is to kill as many enemies as possible with the STG-90 within the given time limit (1 minute and 30 seconds, but can be raised by shooting blue time barrels). Players should be wary of heavy gunners in this challenge, as many will spawn throughout the trial. ⭐ Transport Destruction: The goal of this challenge is to destroy oncoming enemy Jeeps and Helicopters with a given RPG-7. Participants of this challenge will receive the standard time limit, just like all other challenges. ⭐ Point Blank: The goal of this challenge is to kill any and all Pirate Chargers that approach and attack you. For this challenge, you are issued a SPAS-12 as means to slay your opponents. Again, the normal time limit is provided. ⭐ Overheat: The goal of this challenge is to eliminate the onslaught of enemies that will aggressively attack your position. In this challenge, your only weapon will be a stationary mounted machine gun, which is placed on a bridge. Infantry, Jeeps, Helicopters, and boats are all included in the attacking force. It is also advised that players do not continuously shoot for long periods of time, since the mounted gun can easily overheat, forcing the player to stop shooting until it cools down once again. ⭐ Hostile Swamp: The goal of this challenge is to kill approaching enemies. The weapon that players will be using in this challenge is the ACE. Foes in this challenge mostly specialize in close quarters combat, consisting of only Pirate Chargers, Pirate Molotov Throwers and Pirate Berserkers, so it is a good idea to keep your distance when engaging them. ⭐ Bull's Eye: The goal of this challenge is to snipe enemy pirates and Jeeps with the SVD with unlimited ammo (with no reloads). During this trial, you are positioned in a small watchtower overlooking a camp, providing an excellent shot. This tower also gives good cover for players. ⭐ Frag Me Up: The goal of this challenge is to destroy enemy vehicles and infantry with merely Grenades. During this challenge, a Helicopter will attack the player. The best course of action is to allow it to land and then toss a grenade in close proximity to it. ⭐ Furious Gun: The goal of this challenge is to kill enemies with the provided weapons. Every time you kill an enemy in this challenge, you will get a new weapon to use, adding up to 21 different weapons that are cycled through. Upon obtaining a kill with the twenty-first weapon (the Recurve Bow), you will revert to the first weapon (the 1911), ultimately restarting the loop. ⭐ Decimation Barrage: The goal of this challenge is to shoot down enemy Helicopters. For this mission, you are put into an old bunker on a hilltop which contains a mounted DShK machine gun and a RPG-7, both useful tools to get the job done. ⭐ Lord Of Firepower: The goal of this challenge is to kill pirates while traversing through winding caves. Players will use a U100 light machine gun to deal with the threats INTRODUCTION: The Project at Eden's Gate is a doomsday cult and armed terrorist paramilitary group, led by Joseph Seed and his siblings during the events of Inside Eden's Gate and Far Cry 5. Locals refer to members of the cult as "Peggies", which stands for Project at Eden's Gate. They are highly militaristic with a large arsenal of weaponry to oppress non-believers. However, unlike the past enemy factions of the Far Cry series, they are not as well-armed or well-trained in formal military training as a traditional paramilitary groups like the Privateers, Royal Army (Guards), or Mercenaries. Despite their lack of military-grade weapons, they are the first enemy to own attack aircraft. However, their aircraft are either modified WWII-era fighters or agricultural planes outfitted with machine gun hardpoints. They are also known to utilize scorched-earth tactics as well as terror/demoralization strategies, destroying farms and other potential supplies of the Resistance, taking hostages, as well as desecrating the cemeteries and graves belonging to the community. Joseph's siblings all seem to utilize some form of Mind Control to mentally subvert them. Faith uses a drug called Bliss to brainwash prisoners and people who resist the cult she calls "Angels" (who are used as cannon fodder and charge at the cult's opponents with melee weapons), while Jacob uses Mind-Control Music to activate Sleeper Agents. In the prequel, John pours a neon blue liquid that may or may not be Bliss into the river used to baptize new converts to the cult, and Faith adds the same liquid into the tea she gives Sara. The cult was ultimately right, as the world was ravaged by nuclear fire in the end. While the Project was ultimately wiped out, it would be succeeded by Joseph Seed's new cult, New Eden. HISTORY OF EDEN'S GATE:According to The Book of Joseph, the Project at Eden's Gate was started in Rome, Georgia by Joseph after hearing the Voice and recruiting his brothers. After a police accusation over their role in the disappearance of a man, Joseph decided to move the congregation to a rural part of the country, settling on Hope County on accounts of its name and defensibility. Along the way, Eden's Gate continued to build up a large congregation, though being constantly monitored by the police and FBI. By the time they arrived, they were numbering in the hundreds. After arriving, John was able to use his fortune in acquiring land for the Project, and his legal skills in defending the Project. In the time since, more people joined the project due to its moral code and support system, Faith being one of them. By the events of Far Cry 5, Joseph had declared the apocalypse imminent, and the Project has moved towards seizing land and forcibly recruiting people to reach its goals. ENEMY RANKS:The Project is made up of a number of cultists of differing ranks. Recently converted members are referred to as "Followers" and are only armed and armored very basically, with some only armed with baseball bats or other melee weapons. The Project's security forces are better equipped and trained than the Followers, and wear heavier clothing and body armor. The most elite are the Chosen, who usually appear in weaponized planes but are also occasionally found supporting other members on the ground. The three basic ranks of the Project are Pistolero, Assault, and Defender. ⭐ The Pistolero is armed with the 1911 and is the weakest enemy in the game, rarely taking cover and dealing very little damage with their pistols. ⭐ The Assaulter is the most basic and common enemy in the game, using the AR-C and grenades. ⭐ The Defender is similar to the Assaulter but wears body armor that gives them more durability and prefers to stay at a distance and use suppressive fire. THE SEED FAMILY:According to The Word of Joseph, the Seed siblings came from a broken household, with an alcoholic and highly religious father whom the public referred to as "Old Man Seed". They lived in a poor neighborhood in Rome, Georgia. He would later pull Joseph and Jacob out to be home-schooled. Their mother did little to act, seemingly turning a deaf ear to what was happening, apparently having been crushed by her marriage to her husband. After teachers discovered that John had been beaten, the Seed siblings were placed into social services. Old Man Seed would die in a federal prison in Atlanta towards the end of his sentence, having apparently fallen down stairs, while their mother would never be seen again. The Seed siblings would be sent to an orphanage first, and then to foster parents in a small town not far from Rome, where they would be beaten, forced to work in the fields, care for themselves and live in a barn. One night, Jacob set fire to the farm, killing their adoptive parents. Afterward, the Seeds would be diagnosed by psychiatrists as dangerous, and who needed to be separated. Jacob was placed in a juvenile detention center, John was adopted by the Duncan family, and Joseph was left alone at the orphanage, passing through several foster families throughout his adolescence. JOSEPH SEED - THE FOUNDER:According to The Book of Joseph, Joseph first heard from the Voice while he was being beaten by his father for reading a Spider-Man comic. Afterwards, when his father started beating John too, the teachers in the school took notice of his scars, alerted the authorities, and the Seed family was separated. The siblings were placed into foster care. Joseph passed through several foster families during his adolescence and found it difficult to connect with his classmates and siblings, living life as a lonely orphan. The Voice's message would accompany Joseph during this period. As a young man, Joseph squatted in an old packing plant in his hometown as he searched for his brothers, working as a bellhop in the meantime. During this time, he would also become deeply interested in religion in an attempt to understand the Voice. Later, he would move to Atlanta in search for John and found work as a garbage collector. In many of his jobs, he was fired for talking about the Voice. Later on, he took on the position as a caretaker in a psychiatric hospital. One night as he went to the hospital for the late shift, he was mugged by three men and it was then that the Voice contacted him for the final time. The Voice gave him a vision of the apocalypse and the "punishment" that would be inflicted upon the world. After recruiting his two brothers into his Vision, Joseph began to preach out of a former slaughterhouse in Rome, Georgia, eventually building up a considerable congregation of the marginalized in society. However, following the disappearance of a man who had been kicked out of Eden's Gate, the police interrogated and accused the Seeds of being behind the man's disappearance. After that, the Seeds then moved to Hope County with their following. He had a wife and a daughter, both of which were involved in some type of car accident while traveling to see a friend. During the accident his wife was killed, leaving him with only his infant daughter. When he was in the hospital he says they handed him a pink bundle filled with tubes (his daughter). While in a room alone with his daughter Joseph believes that that's when God told him about the end of the world and to start Eden's Gate. He then killed his daughter by pinching the plastic tube attached to her face; shutting off his daughter's life support to prove his willingness to "serve God no matter what he asks.” JACOB SEED - HEAD OF SECURITY:A 44-year-old veteran of the U.S. Army, in which he served as a marksman as a part of the 82nd Airborne Division. He is responsible for maintaining the security of his family and training new soldiers for Eden's Gate. According to The Book of Joseph, Jacob deliberately set fire to their foster parent's farm and was sent to a juvenile detention center. There, he continued to be rebellious, and constantly clashed with the correctional system. Despite this, reports praised him for his sense of honor and leadership skills. After serving out his sentence, he joined the Army, serving several tours on the front lines of Iraq and Afghanistan. He was wounded and decorated multiple times. However, a later medical report warned Jacob's superiors that he was suffering from PTSD. He was declared unfit for service and sent to a military hospital. After running out of money, he was discharged and ended up in a homeless shelter in his hometown of Rome, where Joseph and John would later find him, and recruit him into their ranks as their main soldier. JOHN SEED - HEAD OF INDOCTRINATION:John is a cult lawyer prepared to defend his family through the legal system. After the separation of the Seed family, he was adopted by the Duncan family, a wealthy and highly religious family from Atlanta. According to The Book of Joseph, the Duncan's considered John's soul to be tainted, and they psychologically tortured John in confessing all and any sins through interrogation and a series of fundamentalist pastors. John came to understand that even if he had nothing to hide, he would need to make something up, and became extraordinarily skilled at disguising himself with what others wanted to see. As a result, he became skilled at psychological manipulation and used this skill to acquire secrets about others to his own advantage. After attending a prestigious East Coast University and graduating at the top of his class, John became one of the fastest rising lawyers in Atlanta, inheriting a small fortune upon the death of his parents. He became extremely wealthy and well-connected, apparently portraying himself as a physical sign of success. Despite this, he disliked himself and society for what it had done to his childhood and wished for its destruction. By the time Joseph had contacted him, John was an associate at a major law firm undertaking the redevelopment of his childhood neighborhood in his hometown of Rome. After their meeting, John joined Joseph in his Vision under the role of the confessor of Eden's Gate. Upon arriving at Hope County, John was able to use his fortune in acquiring land and farms without hassle, and quickly became acquainted with the county political and legal system. FAITH SEED/RACHEL JESSOP - HEAD OF PRODUCTION: Faith is one of Joseph Seed's Lieutenants and is in charge of the Henbane River area of Hope County. She is in charge of the manufacturing of Bliss, which keeps the cult in a state of euphoria. She was born Rachel Jessop to the affluent Jessop family that owned a conservatory in the eastern part of Hope County. Faith's father was a doctor who experimented with plants as part of an altruistic effort to save people. Before the atrium was converted into a Bliss research facility, Faith's mother grew orchids in one of the greenhouses. Due to her personality and naivety Faith suffered a lot of abuse and, as a result, turned to drugs for comfort. She left her family and searched for a new home and found the Project at Eden's Gate. ADDITIONAL LORE: ⭐ According to Joseph, the Voice is the Voice of the Creator. ⭐ The Project at Eden's Gate recruits largely from the marginalized in society. ⭐ By the time of the events of Far Cry 5, the Project has amassed to several thousand followers. ⭐ Many of the cultists appear to come from working-class backgrounds and broken homes while others are implied to have lead overall depressing personal lives, which would make them more impressionable to join the Project. ⭐ Most of the cultists are not Hope County residents. Joseph has recruited members from all across the country to join the project. It is presumed he has recruiters in every state convincing worthy members to move to Hope County. ⭐ When engaging the Project, the lower ranked cultists show fear when they are fighting against the Deputy or any Resistance member, while The Chosen are more battle-hardened and professional when engaging the Deputy or Resistance. ⭐ The Project at Eden's Gate largely preaches an isolationist stance from society, considering it irredeemable, with isolation and a simple lifestyle and strict moral code necessary for survival. ⭐ The Project's followers exhibit an immense amount of devotion to Joseph Seed, seemingly refusing to allow him to surrender, despite his willingness to do so, as evident when followers climbed aboard the police helicopter in an effort to save their Father, with one follower sacrificing himself by jumping into the helicopter's rotor blades in an attempt to disable the vehicle. ⭐ The Project is surprisingly wealthy as they were able to buy multiple properties, arm every follower, and obtain multiple ground and air vehicles. ⭐ The Project at Eden's Gate and plot for Far Cry 5 is very similar to the Waco siege when the Branch Davidians led by David Koresh locked themselves inside the compound to fight against the ATF and FBI. ⭐The name is a reference to the Heaven's Gate Away Team, a real-life cult that committed suicide because they believed that Comet Hale-Bopp was followed by a spaceship designed to take them away. ⭐ There are documents in the game that reveal the US government is actually aware of the Cult Activities and has a plan in place to bring them down. This is further proved by speaking with Willis Huntley who also says The Cult has popped up on the government radar. |
